yeah we got a bunch but as of last week we are trying to come across a few of each the 6258 amd 6758 with absolutely no luck. we only luck we have had is a bunch of let downs...people say yeah we have 2 or 3 of them...call back the next day after we pay and say we have no idea where they went.... full race had a few 7064s but we dont need those.

You try traction bars? Slicks? Rotated mounts? Maybe getting tuned boost by gear? There has to be some ways to get this Dam car to grip!!

I'm on the stock turbo, self tuned to somewhere in the neighborhood of 300-310 whp, and the car has more power than it does traction. Adding any more power at this point will probably not really result in much better lap times. A little on a horsepower course, but not very much. Yes, you can travel down the straights faster, but you can't get on the power any earlier, and you'll have to be careful with it, and you're just going to have to brake even earlier.

The car is well balanced with the stock turbo.

this is very true... one thing i feel in your case and mine it could gain from a slightly larger turbo like the 6258 is a better power curve. you have more room to play and with valve spring you can rev to 8k. i feel with a real progressive power and torque curve with limited boost in certain areas the car would be an absolute monster in and around the turns and have the extra it needs in the straights. if i end up getting another cobalt im going to put that to the test.

I have a brand new 6758 sitting here that we aren't going to use now. LMK if you need it, I can ship it out immediately.

Go ahead and send that to me. I prefer Fedex, they get here sooner.

Donkey - I understand your issue with traction and i know there will be absolutely not way to get traction on street tires under this kind of power. Pretty much a given. I have driven fast cars my entire life and had some that couldnt get out of their own way with the power they made and no traction.

With proper tire and maybe dialing the car down a little traction shouldnt be great but it will be manageable. If you think RWD cars can just slap 700hp on them and go run good times or not get walked from a roll you are mistaken. There is a reason the Z28 has LCA's, relocation brackets, 2 sets of wheels/tires, etc.

thats why everybody that goes big power first, before suspension and tire setups fails. Thats why i took so long doing my car. I first upgraded to a G85 trans, upgraded the clutch, did mounts and a lot of other tricks, then nailed down my rim and tire combo. When i run at the track i can side step my clutch at 5k rpms and she just bites and hooks. NOW im ready to add more power. If these cars are setup right they will hook. Everybody on here thinks its all about power though. Ive beaten 500hp cars and im probably only at 370ish whp

I'm talking about street not track and i have plenty of suspension mods and i ran a good summer tire and DR's for half of the summer. I'm not saying the car doesn't go but i would have been just as happy with full bolt-ons and e85.
I will be getting a beef set of DR's this coming year for when i want to race someone but i like my car to handle good also not just straight line.

Edit i ran the SC tune for over a year and did suspension and everything before the turbo kit. I sat around and waited for a good power upgrade to be available.

Get your tuner to adjust your wastegate duty cycle down a few percent. I bumped mine down gradually from about 3krpm and on and smoothed it and now the boost doesn't come on as hard. Also the ottp street bar on the back and endlinks on the front adjusted full down make the car handle 5 times better than stock IMO.

Its winter and snowy lol so spring time i'm gonna mess around with a few setups if i don't trade it in. I would like to run the boost control on a switch like matt from ZZp has to tame it down in 1st and 2nd.

S256 can support more power than the 6758. I would say somewhere in the area of 40-50 more whp capable.

6758 will spool a few hundred RPM sooner.

You would want to run something smaller for the small turbo. I would set it up to blow a 362 through a 249 or maybe even through a K04 or 6258 if money is not an issue.

No i never got my car back in time and actually still dont have it. Suppose to pick it up tomorrow night. Then i need at least 500 stop and go miles on the new exedy before i will stop on it. Will be heading up to nicks after than to add the meth and retune. Gonna be another month until its at its full potential. Season is really gonna dictate this outcome as well. Nick lives 2 hours north of me and gets pounded with more snow than i do.

Either way most likely looking at start of next season before we get it to where it needs to be. Will find out week by week but currently this is where we are at.
