Seafoam vs B12 chem tool ????

Hey Guys,

I was wondering if anyone can educate me on what the difference between Seafoam and B12 chem tool. A buddy who has a Lincoln LS was saying that on thier Lincoln forum that B12 chem tool worked better than Seafoam. Since i never tried either, i was hoping someone could chime in with what they know on both of them and expeirences they had with both. I am looking to use one of them before my next oil change in a few weeks.

Are you talking about cleaning the valves or are you talking about just running some through the intake manifold in hope it will clean valves?

It has been tried and tried again. Seafoam will not due **** on our intake valves if you are hoping to just spray some through the manifold.

Our valves require walnut shell or a full soaking in chemical.

Seafoam, B12 chem, and GM upper engine cleaner should all work for that.

I've been a big proponent of Seafoam or the Lucas fuel system cleaner. I use them every 4-5k miles. Helps control the moisture in the fuel system caused by the Ethanol fuels.

As a former mechanic, I've always shyed away from additives, but Seafoam and Lucas really work.

As long as the car isn't sitting for long periods then this is not an issue at all.

Ethanol is prone to attract moisture and cause corrosion, can can happen during transport from the refinery to the station. Ethanol can still cause issues, no matter how much you drive your vehicle.

So using a quality fuel system treatment can help prevent issues in the long run.

We have a ton of high mileage cars on here and I have never heard of this once.

Now generators, atvs, etc. Vehicles that sit, have tons of issues with ethanol.

A vehicle that is going through a tank a weak won't see crap. The only issues we have are the 08-09 LNFs that have injector seal issues with E

You have to keep in mind that forum members (no matter what type) only constitute a small portion of the general population. Most people won't see problems, but it does happen.

We have 65+k members on this board, but there were over 1.1 million Cobalts produced. Not including the Delta platform models. So real world numbers will be greater than what you see on a forum.
