stock bypass valve RECIRCULATION LINE

Been keeping up to date with the replacement of the stock BOV. Popped the hood to locate the recirc line and can't seem to find it (aka i must not know what im looking for). To me one end of the recirc line should penetrate the intake tubing DOWNSTREAM of the MAF sensor. Thought it was be easy to locate that, but i couldn't find that, and i did't remove the "snorkel tube" so maybe its under there/ on the back side of it. Anyways, if anyone can give me solid details on where this line taps in at both locations it would be much appreciated. Thanks

on the turbo there is a tan cover with a vac/boost line going into the center of it. it is right next to the turbo inlet, it has three 10mm bolts holding it down. ill add a pic for u.
i have an am intake so it looks a little different then stock airbox but intake on left and charge pipe is on the right just so you know which way your looking at it.

the vac/boost line, isn't its function to "tell" the bov whether to be open or shut?? and if so than how can that also be the recirc? Im sorry for the people that do know all of this info and are saying in there heads "what a dumb noob"

The recirculation is done inside of the turbo, everything is integrated now a days to keep costs down.

when the throttle plate closes and makes vacuum then it pulls the valve open recirulating the air into the intake. when you get on the gas the spring closes the valve and when boost is made it is supplied through the vacuum line to the backside ov the valve to help keep it sealed under high boost.

Peachpuff, how can u than run a real BOV in recirc if you put a block plate on the stock bypass valve? If the bypass valve is blocked off, to me it seems the recirc feature is lost. I seem to be getting farther away from understanding this. Thanks guys for all the help

just keep the stock one and replace the spring, i'm 98% sure this exact spring fits our cobalt and the few ss/tc cobalt owners that have done it are happy with the results.

And here is the thread about it

put the recirc bov on the pressure pipe out of turbo and the outlet of the bov would have a fitting for a hose on it so you can connect it to a weld connector for the hose that is put in the intake pipe.
hard to se but this a 90 deg valve so its coming out of the charge on the right and going into the intake on the bottom

Well it seems there are some varying answers. Im going to get a little more specific. Here are my plans, already ordered the parts: block off plate to the stock bypass valve, have an aluminum bov flange welded on my charge piping (the piece on top the engine), mount the the aftermarket bov and attach the ONE line that connected to the tan piece on the stock bypass valve. That to me sounds like its going to vent to atmosphere. I can't picture this unless i connect another line to the bov that ends in the intake downstream of the MAF. Im guessing there is a second line that connected to the stock bypass valve that routed the line to the intake. I have not located this line, for all i know it doesn't exist. Does that line exist and if so just go ahead and attach it to the aftermarket bov where it otherwise vented off? or am i all screwed up. Yet again, thanks for all the help and patience

There is no second line on the lnf, you need to run a 1" or so hose from the bov to the intake. This will dump the vented air right back into the intake after the maf.

so i gotta tap a line into the intake? is there a part that can be purchased? or is it a do it yourself? Peachpuff, this all makes sense now, but i have just one more question, the block off plate will remove the recirculation on the stock bypass valve? so in otherwise, just throw on the plate and its taken care of.

hiltu please read my thread here https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/show...=147981&page=9

if you read through it I am developing a way to keep the stock like bov functions with an aftermarket one I have orderd the bov and the upper pipe. I will be ordering the rest in 2 weeks time hopefully. I will be making a how to and a why I did it with pics and video.
I have already talked to dave at dejon powerhouse and he said it is not a problem to adapt the pipes the way I want them. it will however raise the cost of his intake by 15$ if you can wait until I do my write up all will be explained and a way for us to have an effective and effecient aftermarket bov will be available. And BTW I will try without the block off plate I do not believe it is neccassary.

Yes you have to add a bung in the intake and run a recirc tube to the bov, you have to make it your self since no vendor currently offers this. If you have an aftermarket intake you can just take it to a muffler shop and tell them to weld in a short 1" pipe that'll attach to the recirc tube.
The block off plate will block the diaphragm inside from moving, effectively sealing the oem bov from working.
