i wanna see some proof of the cobalt going 171 mph. i hope its gps confirmed bc youll need a LOT of power to do that. and full suspension. other than that, i think the stock turbo ss/tc is good for about 160 mph but then it literally wont go any higher. i think thats perfect tho because it spools so quickly and its great for anything under that aka races. id prefer the quick spool and "lower" top speed compared to more lag and a little bit higher top speed. if you wanna go top speed buy a vette haha. the cobalt or any normal street car for that matter isnt safe to do north of 160mph.

I couldn't believe the first time I entered Montana and saw no speed limits. Stop at the first rest stop and see something reading whatever is "prudent for the conditions". Sunny, warm, Interstate relatively empty...yep that's an invitation . Haven't been back in years is it still the same?

Land speed racing is not just in Bonneville, It’s in almost every corner of the country Maine, North Caroline, Florida, Texas, Utah, and California. Don’t Be Stupid on the street, yes we have all done it, but there are too many variables out side of you and your car. Recently I was at an LSR event were a fellow racer crashed in the braking zone, paramedics got to him in seconds of the accident and were able to get him breathing again. We found out later that day he died in route to the hospital.
Volunteers packed up his tools and trailer and personal belonging to send back to his home. This Man died doing what he loved I do not feel bad for him. But you ask his 3 kids, wife, parents and friends that? It is not about you its about the people who care about you it’s about the poor sap that is the first on the scene after you barrel rolled off the highway doing 140+ because a tire blew out. These people have to live with that long after you’re gone. If it can happen at a race track where there are paramedics and the drivers have all the safety equipment it can sure as hell happen on the street.

I currently hold a Land speed record in the standing mile with the ECTA for G/BGALT class with a speed of 141.581 MPH. Unlike you I got the *****, better yet the brains to step up and do what’s necessary to safely go flat out.

i dont think u can ever go safely flat out, u loose it at that speed, chances are ur dead no matter what safety equipment u got. There are times when people survive, but chances are u wont.

Oh and cops around here dont chase u after 100 mph. my buddy went past one at 120 once the opposite way, cop just kept going. unless he sees ur brake lights of course then he comes after u. but ya i try not to do stupid **** like that unless the road is clear.
#1- I have owned 5 cars that had a top speed of over 150 mph and yes every one of them was driven to top speed on public highways.
#2- Why the **** would you waste the money on buying a sports car and drive it around at the speed limit and cry like a bitch when someone that actually uses their car properly is asking other ppl that actually use their cars what top speed they have gotten? I started a diff thread about other ppls top speed and every person to comment said the same bullshit that I was unsafe and an ******* for using my car and driving it fast
#3- I have out run the RCMP so many ******* times its not even funny the last time I had my 05 Mustang GT 100% stock racing a supercharged chev pickup and passed a cop coming opposite direction down highway cop turned around truck pulled over I grabbed 4th gear and laid into it 140-150 mph down a winding highway in BC left that poor crown vic like he was standing still funny thing is 30 kms down the road 6 cops had a convertible black GT pulled over guy spread out on the ground slowed down passed them all the cops stopped and stared wondering if maybe my black mustang was the one they were after lol back to 150 mph and switched onto a secondary highway and then back home close one and I am so mad my cars yellow cause there is no way in **** Im gonna run into another yellow TC down the road to save my ass now!! Police cruisers have a top speed of 105mph they cant outrun or catch up to half the cars on the road and rcmp policy is not to chase over 100 anyways its a ******* joke and "if" they did happen to catch you after you outran them its a slap on the wrist fine for failing to stop for an emergency vehicle its not like the usa where its a huge deal go to jail thing for outrunning them.
#4- At 158 kmh or 160 MPH my car was still pulling pretty good I have no doubt that it will pull 165 mph with enough room to wind it out all these claims of 155mph governors are weird all my car has is GMS1 its 100% stock other than that and it passed 155 without even a struggle I regularly pop up to 150-155mph just cruising around
#5- I feel sorry for these poor bastards that live places that are so overpopulated that they cant even take their cars out and run em to top speed once in a while and enjoy the performance they paid for I cant imagine living somewhere that you dont have 3 miles of flat open road to go play on I can drive 15 mins in any direction and have endless miles of flat road and no traffic to deal with.

130 mph happens to be the limiter on 2.4 and 2.2 sport cars... definitely not the limit of the F23.
