If you're stock, you just trashed your stock IC, and you're on a budget, the best solution is to get a free stock IC from someone who upgraded. If they knocked the driver side plastic condensation tank clip off, you can either try to patch it up somehow, or unscrew the tank and plug the drain holes with epoxy (do this before you put it on the car so you can keep it out of the cold, and give it the recommended curing time).

If you're stock, you just trashed your stock IC, you're on a budget, AND you can't find a free or cheap stock IC, AND you're not worried about warranty, the TR8 only slightly more expensive than a new stock IC from oempartsforless.com (and it's much better).

If you're looking for a performance upgrade, I'd go for a tune, DP, CAI or SRI, and charge pipes before I'd buy an IC. Actually the only reason I was looking for a new IC is (1) I trashed the stocker plus (2) I bought a turbo upgrade. Otherwise I was just gonna trash the condensation tank and JB Weld the holes closed.
Oh I have all bolt-on's except the lower charge piping lol. My stock IC is fine havent had any problems over the past 50k miles. I'm just looking for a upgrade.

Kinda wish the core was longer, but it's still bigger than stock overall, if the measurements earlier in the thread are correct. It's the IC of my choice so far.

They make 'em with taller cores if you need more capacity, but the only way anyone has figured out to get gonzo ground clearance is to move the IC out from under the crash bar to behind it, where there's a tradeoff between length and thickness. It all depends on your priorities. My #1 priority is to make absolutely sure I never bash my IC off the street again.

Count me in. Im interested.

comon, lets make this a fast group buy, I want this on before I get tuned March 5th, rofl.

I can pay the $250 tomorrow. 9 more PEOPLE ORDER. lol. This is a very decent intercooler for the price especially for those staying with the stock turbo or upgrading to a hybrid turbo thru bnr. Its the eprfect size and theres no worry of smashing it on curbs

Coated black would be nice and if the end u sections were welded to the ic would be great. How much more effort would it be to weld the ends on? It's one less couple and set of clamps. It also leaves one less weak spot. Should make it an option at least.

I think it look's good as it is personally... I was just curious of the advantages of it being taller and thinner

More surface area for heat exchange... kind of like imaging a hot cup off coffee...how long does it take to cool? Now poor that cup of coffee into a saucer so that it is only an inch deep. How long does that take to cool? More surface area for the material to cool faster.

I just wonder if this would be sufficient for a bigger turbo. And my next intercooler MUST be black. Hmmmmm.

You can definitely spray it black with some heat soaking material. Not sure about a big turbo.. guess it depends on how big and how hard you run the car.

You can get the intercooler anodized. I bet it would be easy to find a metal plating shop around you that could do it. Should cost 100-150$. You don't want paint or any other coating on a intercooler.

Yes I was looking at an anodized EMS intercooler, but this one is super cheap. I'm not sure though if it'll be good enough for what I need it for.
