I think whats neat here is the intake air temp is pretty much equal to the Intercooler temp while the car is cruising as you can see they are around 0.0 meaning they are pretty much at Ambient temp... now usually you dont expect charged air to cool lower than ambient temp from the IC but my guess is it can happen? lol. When I recorded my numbers I made sure the values stayed and werent flashing between numbers no spikey data.
And if anyones wondering why the hell I recorded the intake temps???? Why not
Now people on the fence about SRIs will have some facts straight. The SRI does not suck in hot engine air and make it bad for the car

My IC has broken down from trauma - the guard for the IC has fallen down because it broke on one side, I fixed it so its still %100 functional - but it gets -40c here, and the plastic end caps I just know are gonna die first on my car, before anything.
Very interested, will probably order tomorrow...!

Okay The way I take home has alot of red lights so I made sure not to record the data from a stop... if I did it would look like the info you see towards the end of the graph where the temps start to increase.
In retrospec, 50 degree weather may not be the best to test the Aftermarket IC vs the Stocker. But we should see a difference in IATs reguardless of how minute they will be, lol.
I first recorded the initial temps on the IATs and used three different sources to record ambient. My phone, the dash, and the Aeroforce Guage. I used the dash ultimately because I could watch it along with the two IATs on the gauge. I recorded the temps during my drive back from work at certain intervals which I will do with the Treadstone IC. I did two 3rd gear pulls but not too fast as there was traffic and I wasnt planning on going way past the speed limit. My pulls started at 2500rpm WOT to about 4000 - 4500 rpms. again there was traffic but this was enough to see the IAT2s drop drastically from the cruising IAT2s. You will see that 7 degree dip in the flat part of my curve compared to Ambient.
Blue line graph follows my IAT2s minus the Ambient temperature = difference in temp from ambient and Intercooler Temps.
Red line graph follows my IAT1s minus the Ambient temp = difference in temp from ambient and Intake (K&N SRI).
You will notice that as the car sits the intake temp climbs pretty quickly but the IC temp does not. This is of course when the car is sitting idle, once in the beginning and once when I got home. Then I turned the car off and watched the temps.
There is quite a neat curve for the IC temp change from when the car is running while idle and when the car is off. enjoy the baseline. lol.
EDIT: Just noticed a copy paste error in the data chart It should be...
shut car off: wait 1 minute
shut car off: wait 2 minutes
shut car off: wait 3 minutes.
etc..

The graph shows me idling for the beginning segment where the red line starts climbing. When the red line falls, thats when I started recording cruising data. for that short segment you can see that the Ambient temp and the IC temp are probably on average 2-4 degrees apart at most. A good verification of this is the redline representing the difference between Ambient temp and the temp taken at the MAF shows the same parallel running data at the same 2-4 degrees difference from Ambient.
I expected this and what I expect from the new IC is nothing different here. when the blue line starts to climb, thats the point at which the car was parked and running idle again.. .the difference between this point and the intial idling point at the beginning is the engine is HOT and has been running for a good 30 minutes. So now you see real data showing the IC having an almost 20 degree difference from ambient. It is here at this point I expect to see a few degrees lower with the new IC at least.
The next part of the graph shows the blue line go from the "idle" platue to a increase in temp!!! This is representative of the car being shut off and the air not being able to move through the intercooling system. the air heats up as a result of the hot engine bay. The red line graphed with it is proof that this is occuring. The temp for the intake started to rise quickly even when the car was parked and sitting idle.
I waited in the car and recorded the temps for about 6 minutes and then I saw that the IC temps again platued and started to fall (The air started to cool as a result of it just being chilly and windy out.)
I think I want to try another baseline again to see if I get the same results. I watched my IATs vs Ambient again today and I saw 2-4 degrees difference for both at cruising. I doubt I will see that much more of a difference with the new IC at cruising speed in 50 degree weather outside, lol. I should really do this experiment in the summer. Thats when the IC shines.
