Treadstone Intercooler fitment question

So I thought I read that the treadstone intercooler is the same core as CrazySteve's, if this is true then I guess the fitment issues are the same as crazysteve's.

If not then can someone comment on the fitment of this intercooler. I'm considering MPx because it doesn't hang lower than the bumper but I love the look of crazysteve's and I like the look of Treadstones, but I can't justify it if it's lower than the bumper.

If anyone has any pictures of Treadstones please show me if it hangs lower.

Also, looks aren't everything so if treadstone just makes temps hotter or just as cool as stock then there's no point either I guess.

Reason why I'm asking is because I'm considering the Treadstone Intercooler kit for $800 *edit* I just want the TR8 which I just learned is $730ish

chargepipes intercooler and the whole nine yards.

The TR8 intercooler is well above the bottom of the lip. Treadstone makes several sizes so depending on the one you get the height is different. If you are using the stock turbo the TR8 is a very nice item and is more than adequate for the stock turbo. Here is a picture that I took shortly after install.

the TR12 had no fitment issues wat so ever... i had it and love it... i know it droped the temps but i dont know by how much...i know for a fact that keeps a steady temps runs after runs... 10/10 product! nothing compared to crazy steve one... i had it and it sucked performance wise... this is not an ebay core... its high quality core...

(looks crooket cuz my dumb friend didnt tight the bolt that goes to the crash bar so it moved a little... solution: tight the bolt lol

Unfortunately ZZP's intercooler hangs too low, Colorado has so many dips and inclines and declines. I don't wanna take the chance of scraping the intercooler.

Thanks guys for the pictures, that's awesome. I will get one.

Question, If I want or choose ZZP chargepipes or Injen, can I just get the intercooler and have the same quality fit as the treadstone charge pipes? Also if I choose to just get the intercooler, can I use my stock charge pipes?

And, I will be using my OEM BPV, do I need to get retuned?

TR8L or TR8

no... the treadstone as you see needs the 90* elbow... wich no one sells it... in order to run TS intercooler with some other charge pipes you would need to build you own 90* elbows... as you can see on the 2nd pic the hot side of the intercooler is one pice 90*..cold side is 2 pices...

The Treadstone pipes are quite nice. They aren't shiny and stuff but I like that. Check out my stage 3 build thread HERE if you want.

So the Treadstone kit comes with a BOV, nice I thought it was additional. So I said screw that I'll just use my Stock BPV. Do I need to get retuned for this BOV?

If you are keeping the stock turbo you can run the stock BPV no problems. You will need a block off plate for either the upper CP (if you keep the stock BPV) or a block off for the BPV (if you decide to use a BOV).

So using the BOV there's no need to retune? I'm sorry I didn't get the answer out of this.

I do plan on keeping my stock turbo for some time and maybe forever, but I may want to use the BOV.

I guess this is one of the consequences of using a canned tune

depends what your going to use if your going to use a bov i know you need to relocate the maf on the coldside piping or itll **** up your af when you shift i have this problem to lazy to buy new piping. If you just put charge piping on and no bov you wont need a tune. so really you dont need a tune with a bov just youll have a check engine light for a mechanic bov thats what i got and i just deleted it but thatll be all you get with a bov

I didn't realize the TR12 had no fitment issues.

Cardelino, did you tuck the top of the intercooler behind the bumper support? Or is the top of the intercooler flush with the bottom of the bumper support?

Just doesn't make sense if it's flush cause that thing is tall!

You need a tune for the BOV for sure. You will also need a MAF relocation. Tradstone is sending me some stuff so I can relocate my MAF... It's in the mail right now. I'm guessing that after I put it all together they will make it standard with the BOV. Right now I'm havin gissues with the computer on the car because it is losing metered air through the BOV. The MAF is freaking out. Once I get the MAF relocated it should be perfect. At this point it still pulls insanely hard and runs like a beast but at part throttle just rolling around the city the ECM will freak out... When I am flogging it up in the hills or racing it runs just fine and never falls flat.

Treadstone sells the elbows you need, email them and they will answer any questions you have on it, BTW TR8 is the one you need not the new version.

Awesome all my questions have been answered.

I'll email them (Treadstone) and see if I can buy the kit without the BOV and maybe it'll be cheaper. I have a canned tune and getting retuned might be a hassle. I'll email ZZP and see what they say. ZZP did say I can mail in my ECU for updates so maybe I'll check on prices for the update and if it's even possible.

To all thanks for the support and help on this matter.
