Im a bit older than you and was a Millwright for 44 years so Im allowed to be a smartass Ha Ha Took my first engine apart around 1960 and never stopped. Took my first Mechanics course while in the Navy. Designed and installed many High Pressure Steam systems in the plant. Built a lot of race engines over the years many of which are still running. Got my first computer when I was in my early 50s and built my own a year later. I wish I was young again. Now I can kick back and enjoy myself. I dont mind stirring the Pot now and then

Not really sure when I did MY first engine, I'm a third generation GM tech, my grandfather worked on the new 'Vettes in '53 as a shop foreman and my dad went from tech to body shop to service manager in a Chevy dealer before going to the Airlines. He had me scraping gaskets as soon as I could hold a scraper. I hated scraping gaskets! Either that or sanding Bondo since we did everything from mechanical to body and interior. Hell my dad was one of the best at doing body work with LEAD, now that's old! I do know the first engine I rebuilt without any help, even without my dad knowing actually, was a Jaguar V12 when I was still in high school. That motor is still running strong!
Nice to know there's someone else on here over 30!
Damn dude, you're friggin ancient! What are you doing on a site with all these kids?

And now I drive a 2011 Bucik Regal CXL Turbo that makes the build & quality of your Solstice/Sky look like a cheap plastic toy.
You know the saying, "You can only polish a turd so much, but its still a turd"
Now how about you providing some evidence of these Trifecta cars that blown up???

Hey bro most lnfs that have blown have been trifecta tuned. Now i dont know whos fault but it is true. Theres quite a few threads about it.... Im not against trifecta so dont take it that way..
link to site, threads and posts?
The last time I read (on this forum) Trifecta and HPT both each had 2 blown cars.
But further consensus was that it was a bad batch of ring lands that caused those cars to blow up.
I haven't seen one thing anywhere since those posts about a Trifecta or HPT car being blown up due to tuning.
A lot more then tuning can blow a car up, inferior factory parts or people putting new mods on there car and not re-tuning them. Just saying.
All i'm asking for is proof, a link or something besides heresay.

Dude you're so F'd up on so many levels it's not even funny.
Lol.
Here's a couple of those levels back at ya...
So you went from gay to grampa in about $30k huh? And you're proud of that?
I didn't buy the Sky for build quality, what a retarded statement. Oh yeah, I went out and bought a Saturn because the build quality is SOOOOO good. Not. I bought the Sky because I wanted a small, light, rear wheel drive roadster that I could have fun going through the hills were I live. I paid $16k for it, mint condition and every option with 22k miles. I put a little bit more into it and now have a hella fun car that will do 60-100 in 3.6 seconds. Log your Buick, it's probably lucky to pull off an 8 second 60-100. I guess the ladies at bingo will wait for you so it's ok if you're late 'cause your car is slow.
You actually think the Sky is my only car? I've got a bunch of bad ass cars and trucks and motorcycles that are worth more than most people's homes are. The Sky is a play car, I drive it when I feel like it, which at mid 400's to the wheels is pretty much most of the time lately.
You want to talk build quality? I WORK IN A FRIGGIN' BUICK DEALERSHIP. You think I don't know what cars are built well and which one's aren't? I average 10 cars a day (fixed), 5 or so days a week, 47 or so weeks a year, for the last 30 years. You do the math, I've driven and worked on a few, including all the new Buicks. I've even logged and looked at the tunes in the LHU's, and I can also tell you all the part numbers and differences between the LNF and the LHU's as far as injectors, fuel pumps, cams, turbo, etc.
And if you want to go further on build quality, maybe I should park my CTS next to a Regal and do a little comparison? A Regal is an entry level Buick for gods sake.
I'd go on further but I usually try to not get into a battle of wits with an unarmed man. Have fun with the Buick dude. I will admit it looks like they did a pretty good job on that car and motor. Hope you don't need warranty work, I might have to give TAC a call so they can block your Powertrain warranty. I think I'm done with this subject.

To be honest I wouldn't really care if I had my warranty dude (hint: I've modded my Regal already). You couldn't do jack about it if you wanted to anyways
I don't let Techs at dealerships work on my cars unless its something easy to fix like the cam end plate leaks I had fixed on my HHR SS and I know any ******* can fix.
Most techs don't know there ass from a hole in the ground without a computer, and I have personal access to a Tech 2 if I can't figure it out on my own.

I hate my generation....
gmtech.. for someone who's so old you really got some growing up to do .. seriously.. you dont act your age at all
and for those saying that trifecta blows more motors.. regardless of the truth of the statement .. trifecta tunes more cars in a week then most tuners tune in a month.. not to mention alot of trifectas customers come from the internet so we're more apt to hearing about them.. theres more BS Hpt people out there that dont know what they're doing that we'll never hear about.. actual FACT.. if sample size of company x is 1000 and 2% of their customers have issues thats 20 people .. company y sample size is 200 they have 10%+ thats still over 20 people now company x has mostly internet based clientele those 20 people will probably put on blast ( as what always happens with bad news, you hear more about bad then good) and you'll never hear about most (if any) of company y's issues if they're just a local company

besides all the bs.. this is an interesting read. I've always been told that you want 11.5 afr for most fi applications. I've tuned at 11.8 wot (HPT tuned myself), and all i get is black smoke, from what my friends tell me. It almost seems as if it lags as well (i have the lsj-TVS, so not turbo lag). Just recently i have bumped it up to 12.2, you guys are saying that these cars run at peak performance at around 12.8-13.0 afr?
hey bro i get what your saying about the whole trifecta thing. (The issue does lie in people who buy hptuners and just copy and paste using the repository or emailed tunes). I myself teach people and do know what i am doing, theres only a few of us out there that know the lsjs and lnfs. Vince Might tune more (reason is because alot of people dont want to travel to get tuned, and they dont want to spend the time of day to get tuned so they just get trifecta and download a base and possibly log once or twice. Most of my customers are logged till i feel comfortable letting them go. Which to me is the best bet to make sure everyones happy. Price wise is also a worrier for alot. Most people feel 300 for a tune is expensive so they go with trifectas budget tune which is seriously a WOW. Just because the logging doenst happen, its just a base. So alot of people go with vince because of this. Now i know trifecta is a good source to use,and i dont have a prob with that at all i actually telll some to go with it if they dont have a tuner near them. But if some one is getting tuned and they see the log ad can ask questions about the log. They will be more then likely happier when they leave. And vince also does not log afr in the lsj, le5, and ect. Ive tuned **** loads of his old customers because he cant get ahold of, he always blames the people is the car runs like **** (NEVER THE TUNE) and ect. GMTECH IS a great guy to talk to on the forums (even tho i dont get on alot since im always to busy.

most trifecta AFRs i've seen are 12.2-12.7 11.5-12 is rather low and shocking for vince on based on his research
Lnfs not lsjs d.i only 12s-132s
tHIS IS A lnf thread, if you put ure afrs to 12s or 13s it wont last long ecs if not built. Your ideal afr without meth is 11.3-11.8 keep it there and your set.!!!
