Trifecta Boost issue

Guys,

I installed a K&N SRI for my car, WOTs were good everything was okay, but I was getting up to +12 LTFTs.

Vince did an adjustment after a week and a half of waiting and my LTFTs went to -10ish

But now I get this weird pulsating boost issue that only happens when I got WOT...

It didn't happen before when I was getting +11 - +12 LTFTs, but now that i'm -7 to -10 LTFTs I get this. My car can't even hit peak boost which is 23psi. It does it sometimes, but not all. When trying to record this, the first say 2 attempts were normal boost. The next set of 2 had one pause before hitting max boost. Then finally I was able to get it on video. All WOTs

I'm getting frustrated because it'll be 3 weeks this coming Thursday, I've been dealing with bad LTFTs and it'll be a week with this weird boost issue.

Vince knows about it, just waiting...

Anyway, what's causing this, why would a tune adjustment cause such odd behavior. I avoid WOT because of this and I only did it so I can record it in action. Is it something I should worry about. Sorry for the sound, seems as if my new Rom on my Samsung Vibrant has a crappy camera.

Thanks for the info

Sounds like you gotta take that up with Vince. I'm lost as to what would cause that after a retune.

Vince responded in record time lol. Showed him the video and he said it's a surge, he see's it in the log as well. He's not sure why it's doing it, but he sent me a update. Gonna try it out.

I don't know what's going on with youtube and my account. It is struggling to let me keep this video uploaded and now it's being reviewed by youtube.

Anyway,

Vince's second revision didn't do anything and it's still bouncing. He doesn't know what's happening and he said he's looking into my new logs to try and figure it out.

I didn't see the Vid but if Ure getting surge look at Ure coupler that goes to the turbo and also make sure that the filter is not oiled up to much. If this is good the tune is more likely the issue since its off that far

Finally the video is working.

Anyway, the weird thing is when I was on my original Trifecta tune it was fine, then all the sudden I put on the revision and this boost bounce started happening.

I'll check the intake right now see if it's better. As for the oiling, I didn't oil it. It came in the mail and I slapped it on. I thought it was pre oiled. Should I oil it?

Should be preoiled. Have vince get the trims down and it should go away . Unless theres a clog somewhere in the system.

He did my trims are now at +1.5 to -2.6.

How do I check for clogs?

I Ure getting surge then check exaust and check Ure charge pipes for a weak coupler. Boost leak test will help u find some issues.

Vince, thinks it might be a wastegate actuator issue. Damn I just wish my K04+ would hurry up and get here!

If it happens right after a revision I highly doubt it.

Okay, here's the official update. Vince told me to reload the last known good tune and I did and that boost bounce thing went away. So his revision was messed up. So that's where I'm at right now. Running off the original tune. My LTFT's according to my aeroforce gauges are back up to +10, but at least I don't have bounce.

***Edit****

and then got the finger from Vince (maybe) He basically said I may have to choose between bouncing boost or High LTFTs
He said he's going to look over the tunes and get back to me, but if that is the case, I honestly don't like my choices...

Yeah that would not be acceptable for me either, it all has to work.

I dont know if it can have an effect, but when i installed my K&N intake, i had to re-route the 2 rubber line that are between the intake and the head cover, they were squeezed by the intake tube,

i just inverted them in the area they were squeezed.. may be something to look for. i have no idea if it would affect boost though!...

Good luck!

Have you tried adjusting the filter ? The K&N has a metal strip that you can use as a marker to turn the filter . Vince adjusted my tune and got my trims pretty close +/- 3 .... after that I adjusted the filter and got them to 0 out. I will look at the filter later but IIRC the metal strip is facing like 9 or 10 o'clock

MAF trims and boost control aren't the same thing, so that's a silly resolution!

It's been fixed officially.

My gauge reports LTFTs at +0.7 and the highest I've seen was +3.5, but it didn't last long. Wasn't when my car was warmed up. Also my boost is normal again.

As far as I can tell all is well.
