turbo whine
The turbo on the SS/TC doesn't sound too much unlike the SC 3.8s that I've been in, just higher in frequency. I could see how someone not familiar with turbos thinking they sound similar.
let's look at the facts here.
-loud whining noise. depending on how loud he means this could already mean a few those, one being an oil delivery issue to the compressor.
-it just started...When some noise starts in the engine bay that wasn't there before, it usually means something is different obviously.

I'd put my money on absolutely nothing being wrong...
It's possible that if it's a high pitch noise that increases in frequency with a corresponding increase in boost and only happens under boost and higher loads that the sound is normal. But if it wasn't there before (and the original poster knows what the normal turbo "whistle" sounded like before the change developed) and it just started occurring then there very well could be a problem. Maybe it's the turbocharger assembly itself or something simple like a leak in the intake tract causing it to operate out of specifications. Have you also noticed a change in vacuum/boost after this developed?
Since you think that something has changed I'd take it to the dealer. That's what your warranty is for. If you have a good tech they should find the issue if one is there and if there's nothing wrong at least you'll have better piece of mind. If you haven't owned a lot of turbocharged cars and they can't find anything and say the sound is normal you might see if they'll let you test drive another one to compare to yours.

i took it to the dealership and they said the hose connecting to the intake had a crack but that same peice broke pff and it never made that sound but they assured me its just that but we will see i guess
I dont know if our turbos have ball bearings in them but assuming they do the noise cound be the bearings going out. I know that screaming sound all too well as I work on electric motors. That could be his problem. I say let the dealer figure it out.
The K04 uses conventional journal bearings in the CHRA (center housing rotating assembly). And as he just mentioned he took it to the dealer and they found an intake leak/crack. I'm kind of curious as to which intake hose or piece had the problem. If it was on the inlet side and sucking air in it could definitely make an induction noise and if something on the pressure/outlet side was leaking that could cause the computer to increase boost to compensate for the leak which could over-spin/over-speed the turbo causing a louder noise (in addition to possibly noise from the leaking boost pressure).
