Wanting to Install a Cat Back Exhaust

Is there a how to on how to do one of these? Not to ask a stupid question but do you have to have them professionally installed or is it a matter of turning a few bolts basically and mounting it up underneath?

Honestly, my dumb opinion, if I've never done it or if I've never seen it doing it, I would have somebody doing it for me

you can do it yourself, pretty much cut the stock exhuast before the axle, and bolt the new one in.

As far as an install this is the road I would take, buy it from a reputable company and do it yourself. It is literally removal of 7 nuts and then reinstalling the 7 nuts. The only other tool you might need is a sawzall...

First... Grab a sawzall and hack the exhaust just before the axle.

Then... Unbolt the DP from the turbo and allow the exhaust system to sag a bit, not so far as too let it hang on the O2 sensor wire. It is almost impossible to get the top nut on the rear Downpipe flange without doing this.

Next... Unbolt the stock section and toss it.

Fourth... Bolt the first catback section to the DP and re-bolt the DP to the turbo.

Finally... Finish putting the catback on from the front to the back. It should take maybe 30 minutes.

A good catback should use the stock hanger locations. You may or may not have to reuse the stock rubber grommet mounts, some kits come with them others don't.

You are talking about turbo, Im supercharged. Is that going to make a difference when it comes to unbolting it from the down pipe?

BTW its either going to be a Meagan Racing or Pace Setter.... Not sure if I like the sound of the MR vs the growl of the PS... I want a deeper growl and not so much a riced out sound either way they both are only going to cost $350

dont go ape **** tearing the stock catback off(unless its unbolted and not touching the dp) it will **** up your flex pipe if you have a stock downpipe. i have the megan and it sounds really good with the stock dp put back on but if you want to go catless dont go with megan its to ******* loud

dont post in the LNF turbo forum then :-p

You will still have a downpipe, but I think yours is only 3 bolts.

My bad dude I figured you posted in the LNF thread so you must be turboed. It is probably pretty much the same. A few bolts, a sawzall and you will have yourself a new exhaust. I wouldn't take it somewhere, just because they charge like $50 an hour on average here in southern cal and I can do it myself and save $100.
