Warranty Problem! Possible Rebuild
1) Your tuned by either TF or HP
2) One day you notice smoke, a messed up idle.... you do a compression test and see Cylinder X is low
3) You flash back to stock either with Trifecta Dealer Kit or HP Write Entire and uninstall your bolt-ons
4) Drive around the block a few times
5) Take it to dealership and say umm something is wrong with my car can you guys do a compression/leakdown test
As shady as this practice is if you do this I don't think there is any way they could ever tell you were tuned correct me if I'm wrong.
Would you guys that are blowing up your cars with tunes stop trying to get Chevrolet to foot the bill, please? It's making it harder for the un-tuned folks to get anything done under warranty without being harassed.
When i seen this post i was like yep i wouldnt run 25without meth but i would run 24 without meth. But since we are talking bout turbos ill let u in on my issue. I have the s20g with a wastegate actuator issue. ... Well yesterday my car decided to boost to 40lbs lmao. .... Soooooo im like wtf actuator did you really have to do that. Lol ive talked with hahn since they have this same issue and im getting it worked out. I was just like huh..

I have seen first hand that the dealership can't figure out you were tuned. A friend of mine blew up his 07 GXP running 30psi infiniboost for over a year and racing all the time with it. I flashed it back to stock with Trifecta's software, he took it in. A couple weeks later he gets the car back with a brand new LNF in it.
theres so many variables. If the tech is positive you were tuned... theyll keep looking till they prove it. They can do this by taking apart the engine, and looking for signs of accelerated wear. That in and of itself is grounds for them to say "no warranty". Ive witnessed this happen.
If they assume your tuned, the dealerships can also say "no warranty" without proving anything. Is this practice legal? no, but what are your options when it happens? you can lawyer up and spend a few thousand dollars, or spend the few thousand dollars to fix it. Its a shady practice and the moss magnuson act is a joke.
If you have a car with 15k miles on it and a blown ringland, what do you think the initial assumption will be? I mean, thats NOT COMMON. Any technically minded person will try to find the reason something went wrong and if thats not readily transparant, assumptions begin.
