Preemptively - anyone know the part # for the tensioner and guides?

FYI there is a code. I actually drove it today just to have the code pulled.

Did you try a stethoscope? Or a poor man's stethoscope? (a long screwdriver ) just to see if you can truly pin it down to the timing cover?
I'm thinking that's what it is though.

Got code P0014 - Exhaust Camshaft Position (CMP) System Performance.

I was thinking about being lazy and just paying the dealer to install.... They told me it was warrantied. I got excited thinking hell yeah "free" I went there on lunch and he immedietaly told me they wouldnt even change the oil on my car as it has been modified.... Gay. This is the same dealer that tried to not warranty my brothers car for flutter when it had a GMS1 and a catback.

I've seen where some people get this code and it is just the sensor, but im thinking the sensor is good and its really a broken guide/tensioner because of the sound that comes with it.

Think its stupid to just order the whole kit before I take the cover off to confirm? Would rather get the shipping started sooner than later. Won't be able to touch the car until Tuesday.

I know your kidding, but you know what? I bet it would conduct sound pretty well.

You'll just have to explain to your neighbors why you're standing there with a broom up to your ear and the other end stuck up against your engine, hahaha.

Doesn't sound stupid at all, if you have the funds.

I got this same code but on the Intake side. Turns out that one of my cam actuator bolts had backed out and the cam gear was loose. Something to look into. I ended up replacing all the guides, tensioners, bolts and chain anyway. Just for good measure

if the timing chain is REALLY screwed up it can jump a tooth and cause a code.

I say blown seal on tensioner or tensioner guide is effed. Your tensioner holds tension on the exhaust side so it would make sense. I honestly wouldn't drive the car at all. You risk the chance of bending a valve if u haven't already...these ARE interference motors unfortunately, lol.
