Where is the GM stage kit?
In that case I would be worried because of what happen to Chrysler. They pissed off some suppliers like "Saginaw, Muncy" only it was a German company called Getrag and they can no longer get trannys for a lot of new Chrysler models ... I am sure it had to do with the " Licensing " issue and business wen't sour after Chrysler tried to buy back the license and get them made somewhere else for cheaper but Getrag shut the door and won't sell them the licenses. I have no idea what kind of relationship GM has with SAAB but I am sure that the Corporate Henchman at SAAB grand fathered in some things that will allow them to keep the technologies they already own.
But I did find something that I think is very interesting. It shows how desperate GM was getting a few years ago. The following was found on Wikipedia.
Marketing
The launch of the G6 was a major publicity stunt: 276 of the cars were given away to audience members of The Oprah Winfrey Show on the talk show's fall 2004 season premiere. This promotion, alongside a reported US$110 million publicity campaign, attempted to garner national attention for the brand-new G6.
I stand corrected. I have to sharpen my researching skills.

Someone at work has a 06 GTP with the 6-speed manual. The gearbox is pretty noisy. I can hear the ratcheting sound outside while the car is moving. I haven't heard her complaining about the shifter though.
I'm not sure why GM stopped using the 6-speed manual on the G6 or whether they will ever bring it back for another car. The F35 has been in-service for over 20 years, first debuting on the 1984/1985 Saab 9000. I found more info on the F35/MU3 which I added to the appropriate Wikipedia page.
I remember that day when Oprah gave out the G6s. GM was pissed off big time because they couldn't make G6s fast enough to meet market demand, and here Oprah was giving them away.

YOU WATCH OPRAH???
My 88 Fiero uses a 5sp Getrag licensed trans. It is made by Muncy. In fact it's known as The Muncy Trans. It's the F282. It was only rated 165hp I think but stands up to 350 with the LS1. Not so the axles. I now have axles from The Drive shaft Shop. Guaranteed to 750hp. I won't tell you what they cost.

Correct again. They killed the F40. Can't find any reason. I'll keep looking.

A lot of magazines also complained about the shifter in test drive articles.
Something weird, but a lot of my fellow MR2 owners are buying up surplus F40's. They're using them + Northstar V8's in various MR2 V8 swap projects. I'm not sure if its still the case, but someone was selling a large amount of them on ebay for... I think... $500-600ish.
I know the Fiero guys were buying the hell out of them too since thats where the MR2 swappers got the idea.

I searched around a little and did find some F40 trans. but they are in a lot of 240ea and I suspect they are export models also. He wants $60,000 for the bunch. That translates to $250 each but who needs that many spares?
The F40 was rated for something like 295 ft-lb and the F35 at 260 ft-lb according to GM. This is why I am skeptical about the LNF Turbo Upgrade's compatibility with the stock F35, unless GM Beefed up the F35 in the SS/TC.
I don't watch Oprah, but I remember it was on the news as a very big event. The audience was happy, GM was not!

Better clutch probably. But the manufacturers stated rated power handling capability is grossly under rated for many obvious reasons. The Getrag M282 in my Fiero is handling 350 hp and probably equal torque very well. The rated horsepower (I don't know the torque) is only 165 on that trans. Wish I could say that for the stock half shafts.

Sorry about the Oprah reference. I couldn't resist.

Not a prob re: Oprah. If there's something related to cars on the news, I usually pay more attention! I fleshed out the F35 wiki page and made the F40 wiki page.
If you get a chance and have more info to add, please update the pages:
