And If It Does Put That Out, I'm Sure The Torque Will Be Atleast What Hp Is. And I Don't Think Gm Will Overprice Kit, Because They Know About Hp Tuners And Hahn. People Will Just Go With Them And Take Their Chances With Warranty. Cobalt Ss Owners May Be Jonesing For This Kit, But They Should Not Be Manipulated.
Let's make nice. Right now you are talking about every Cobalt needing a different tune because of the idiosyncrasies of each one which can be done by an aftermarket tuner. What I'm trying to say is GMPP can tune ONE Cobalt on a dyno and then replicate that exact tune on as many cars as they want. And I bet they could easily get 350 hp out of an LNF and offer that exact tune to the public. At the expense of many warranty claims. What I'm understanding from your post is each individual Cobalt would have to be tuned individually on a dyno in order to get 315 horsepower out of it.

I posted a couple of links that you might find interesting.

Some good reading to get a better understanding the LNF's approach to keeping it in the family.

ok, guess i'm just a former subie guy

ok, maybe it is possible to squeeze out 50-60 hp from a mass calibrated tune. i admit that my knowledge truly is with the 2.5 boxer. man, i think it's withdrawl from losing my sti. from what i've heard the eco is a lovely engine certainly comparable to the boxer. it just always seems that whenever an automobile manufacturer drops their own in house upgrades, they always seem to fall short of other alternate choices. i remember getting tuned on a dyno dynamics with my subie and the shock of my whp not being anywhere near what cobb tuning said it would have, but dyno dynamics is such a conservative dyno, second only to a mustang and air inlet temp has much to do with it. i heard someone say on this thread to just end it with chit chat about gm kit, i think i'll follow that advise and just join the ranks of patient 'waiters'

I feel like GM left a lot on the table with the car on purpose. How else were they going to offer a stage kit?

If you got the money you wouldn't have to wait . Get a new ECU and HP Tuners. Find a private tuner. It can be done ...Somone just put down 307/340 with a few little things. A tune being the first ....

The two links I just referenced are a HPTuners forum. Get into your objective mode and check them out.

Maybe someone asked this already, but why didn't GM just offer the Stage kit as a factory installed option?

You guys are still talking about this? There is already options out that will match what your looking for. If your doing it for the sensors well, just think do you want your car boosting higher than 22psi FWD? How about you guys just forget about it and if anything does come out then start a thread, till then enjoy your car, not bitch about GM AGAIN!!!

To anyone who is in here wondering why we are waiting for the GM Turbo Upgrade and not going aftermarket:

WE WANT WARRANTY!!! WE DO NOT WANT TO THINK ABOUT SWAPPING ECU's, LYING, OR BEING PARANOID EVERY TIME THE DEALER HAS OUR CARS. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE STOP TELLING US ABOUT AFTERMARKET TUNES IN THE GM UPGRADE THREAD. IF ANYONE WANTS AN AFTERMARKET TUNE THEY WILL POST IN AN AFTERMARKET TUNE THREAD. THANK YOU.

Sorry for all the caps lock action but some people in here just don't get it. Anyway, there is some great info in that solstice thread, definitely worth the read.

My service manager at chevy is telling me he can tune my car and get around 320 whp 340 torq. My question is is the kit out yet and what is he selling me. He says it won't void the warrenty.

boy that sounds shady. Sounds like he has his own tuning company or program he likes, will tune your car with it then not void your warranty when you bring your car in.

I just think that every cobalt's parameters concerning ecu and ignition, fuel, boost are all varying. look at hp/torque numbers for cabalt ss's on the same dyno. Cobb tuning offered their accessport with stage 1 (for no other mods needed and about 20 whp) and stage 2 on that unit offered about 30 whp with other supporting mods such a full turbo back. As far as the gm kit, I would be happy with an additional 40 hp to the crank with just that intake tube and similiar numbers for torque. 650 for the gm kit does'nt seem all that bad, considering the accessport was 700. too bad gm couldn't offer the OBD port plug in adapter and let us owners do it ourselves, but they can make loot with the installation
Trust me , I had the CobbStreetTuner and a fully modded WRX and tuned my own car on a DynoDynamics , and those motors are nothing really like the LNF: injectors, AFR , timing, blah blah blah are all different. Just need to be patient, but from your other posts I can see you are headed in that direction already

I am unimpressed with the WRX STI's 2.5L Boxer. It does not have direct injection or timing chains. MPFI and timing belts are so 1980s. It's time to get with the program, Subaru!

So should I save for the stage kit or an engagement ring?

Tough one.

i think your service manager is smoking ice or something, what a stupid thing to tell someone, especially since he works for them
