Yeah, I'm sure you get sick of everyone asking and I'm sure you get a million PMs about it.

On the other hand I bet you are excited for GM to release it so you can sell the crap out of it.

ok you guys

I just bought my LNF sat. i went to the parts department. they were unsure so they called the GM performance divison.

Ive been trying to figure this out myself through the dealer.

They said it SHOULD be ready(key word should) in about 2-3 months. they are having a problem with the waterjackets.

if you dont believe me. im sorry. I think I have some descent rep on this site for my word.

Ill let you know if I hear anything else.

I can't even imagine what this upgrade has to do with water jackets. None of the other LNF cars had any problems with water jackets. Maybe they're having a problem with bee stings where they are and he said "YELLOW" jackets.

I think you just got blown off by the rep. But I could be wrong.

What is it, in particular, that makes you say that? I'm just curious to know if there's something that none of the rest of us don't. Chevy did pretty good designing and building the LNF engine. Why should we believe they won't do the same with the upgrade kit?

because I doubt GM is going to tune the car as agressive as some of these aftermarket tunes...maxing out the stock turbo and such. They do warranty it you know....

Thats why they only went to 315. I figure about 280-290 at the wheels. That's 5% less than aftermarket tunes.

I'm sure their rate of failure is much higher when they go up another 5-10% in HP that's why they limit the tunes.

Look at how rich the stage 2 tune was. They are protecting their own asses.

260 to 315? I'd say a 55 HP increase is VERY respectable. I haven't seen ONE engine failure on this forum with or without the upgrade. There you go talking about "stage" tunes. There is only ONE "Turbo Upgrade" ffor the LNF engine. If you're talking about the LSJ you're on the wrong forum.

Oh! I almost forgot the LNF up grae is 100% warranted by GM just like the rest of the car. GM isn't protecting their ass. They're protecting OUR asses.

I agree with you. The GM turbo upgrade will probably not be as aggressive as aftermarket. I personally do not want my turbo to be maxed out, ever! I just want a little more boost than stock and I'll be very happy with it and my continued warranty.

Those who care the keep their warranty, thats who. Not everyone is willing to toss their brand new car warranty in the trash to make up the couple extra hp a custom tune may get them. And slapping the stock tune on for warranty does not work as the file history is kept via timestamps. This all depends on the stealerships rules tho, some may look the other way, some may revoke... not a gamble I want to take unless I have too. The stage kit it worth waiting for.

So here is what I am being told by my dealership;

According to a parts guy named Tony, at Criswell Chevrolet in Germantown, MD;

I called on the 3/9 to see if I could order the stage kit for an 08 sstc. I was told it would be about $500 sans install cost. I immediately ran to grab my wallet and paid for it with glee. I was told it would take 5-7 days for it to come in. Today was day 7. I called again today to see if it was there, upon checking Tony told me this;

the order is on backorder from Lansing, MI. I explained to tony that I was wary about the part even being out yet. He told me not to worry. My order has not been cancelled and that it should be about 5 more days before I should get it.

Not sure how much that helps, but it is what it is. Fingers crossed I get it in 5 days. I'll let u know. I know a lot of people want proof, so you can call the parts dept at Criswell Chevrolet for yourself to find out.

I think something is wrong here...the MSRP of the kits for the Sky, Solstice, and HHR is like $650 plus install cost. The Cobalt kit is going to have an MSRP of at least this (they might be adding a part to it for the intake).

I'd get your money back and wait patiently like the rest of us...

FYI WHEN THEY GET HERE buy from Crate Engine Depot. They're selling at a $100 discount. That should be enough to pay the dealer to install it.

Really?? Did Tom specifically say this????

I know they will be cheaper, but $100 cheaper? Just very curious....

I know the labor rate is about $100 now anyways.

I think this is an assumption because the HHR kit is selling for $550 when the MSRP is $650...
