Labor rates are determined by the dealership. Period! The manufacturer sets the HOURS for the purpose of Flat Rate.

I can't find my reference right now but trust me it is one hour. If the mechanics are working flat rate that is what they would be paid for.

at bottom just above blue text.
states one hour for install. Parts guy at dealership stated same thing.
and yeah, very wary that I don't get the wrong stage kit for my car. especially if the cobalt is getting more than 290 hp and a different intake (which, I'll probably replace anyways). Dunno where the 315 number is comming from, if anyone has any good source for that.
waiting on the tune before i buy a couple things....way too antsy a person to wait.

buy an extra ecu. and custom tune it.
plus do u really think anyone really knows how to install the stage kit? or what it even contains?
It never ceases to amaze me. READ son READ. Click on the Crate Engine Depot link I posted.
you still get the warranty if you buy from CED. You get warranty as long as the dealer installs the tune
And it comes with instructions...the primary reason you need the dealer is for the re-flash, not for the install...
I think they're going to charge you the whole hour anyway so why not let them do the whole thing. PLUS! There are wires that must be cut to replace the connectore to the new TMAP sensors and they are NOT color coded. Why take the chance?
The install isn't that hard, it might suck being the guenea pig for a dealership though.
I was sick watching CrazySteve test fit the new intercooler to my car. Gotta pay to play though.
Calibration Information
Your vehicle must be taken to your GM Dealer to have the new
calibration flashed into your ECM. You will ask for your calibration
by part number depending on what vehicle you have installed the
Turbo Upgrade Kit. To get your calibration you will need the serial
number for your kit, which is located on the outside of the box as
well as your authorization code located on page 1 of your I-sheets.
Ask for one of the following part numbers.
This leads me to believe that they expect some people can install it on their own. I'm going to have my Dad help me with the install to save on the installation costs. He also has a Tech II, so I'm hoping he could just go to the dealer and get the program so I don't even have to drive my car to the dealer...I trust my Dad more than the techs at the dealership...

Go ahead and be a hero. If THEY **** it up THEY will fix it at THEIR expence and give you a loaner car till it's done. IAnd I have read horror stories on other forums talking about installations going wrong.f YOU **** it up, which sounds like a really good possibility, YOU pay to fix it AND pay for a rental while they have it. And they might have it for a while because the TMAP sensors are made by BOSCH and availability is very limited. In fact one guy said you have to give the old sensor back to get a new one. And if you dont have a TECH 2 machine floating around and the proper information to put into it you won't be able to flash ****. So go ahead. By the way. All the heroes I know are dead.

Secondly, does anyone know if this will be able to be loaded onto my Dad's Tech II (if the dealer has no problem with this) and then he can just bring it home for us to do the reflash? I'm not totally familiar with the Tech II and downloading the programs at a dealership...I talked to Tom at CED about this and he seemed to think it would be a fine plan...but he didn't know if the program actually downloaded to the Tech II or if it was just used as a pass through...
Basically what I'm asking is...does my car actually have to go to the dealership or could we just get the tune on the Tech II and take it home to do the work?
First of all...yes...I'm am quoting my own post...

My local dealer Jon Hall Chev in Daytona Beach just replied to my call for info on the status of the Cobalt Upgrade. Jon Hall is a listed GMPP dealer so they do have a little HP when it comes to getting info from GM. The conversation was encouraging. The Cobalt kit IS IS IS a reallity. There was a holdup engineering but right now they are being back ordered due to the over whelming demand for the kits. NOT just Cobalt!! ALL the LNF cars. There's only about 8 kits sitting on dealers as of right now. These dealers are not parting with them for other dealers. Not that it matters to us. The good news is they WILL be here in 3 to 5 weeks. To the guys that "have the kit ordered" I don't know what the parts guy told you but a part that has NOT BEEN RELEASED cannot be ordered. The part number isn't even in the system. The guy at GM that my parts guy was talking to was Scott (no last name by his request) and is the Vice President of GM Performance. My guy, also Scott
will get me whatever news GMPP publishes on their GM website EPIC. WOW!!!
I know he couldn't walk into any dealer and convince them of this, but he knows quite a few people in the area that could probably arrange it. They know he isn't going to be up to anything fishy...just saving some labor costs...
Anyone know if it actually gets downloaded to the Tech II so he could bring it home?

If this is the case, maybe I can have my Dad find someone that will just do the reflash for me for a small labor cost...
HOLY ****!!!!! Just Googled Tech 2

This just occured to me:
With all of the people interested in buying the turbo upgrade kit, why can't we find some guy that has the drive to get some of these kits as soon as it's released and reward him with a giant group buy? It seems that we'll get it that much sooner and maybe at an even better price that way
... There are enough of us that we may have quite a bit of pull.

They Are Training
Talked To A Guy At Chevy In The Service Dept Last Week. Said He Was Attending The Workshop Where Gm Instructs On The Installation Of Kit. So It's Coming Out, But Probably In May Or June. Comes With Intake Tube And Electronics For Ecu. I Doubt It Will Be 315 Hp As Some Have Said. Kinda Hard To Squeeze Out 55 Hp Without Dyno And Street Tuning It. And If It Does Put That Out, I'm Sure The Torque Will Be Atleast What Hp Is. And I Don't Think Gm Will Overprice Kit, Because They Know About Hp Tuners And Hahn. People Will Just Go With Them And Take Their Chances With Warranty. Cobalt Ss Owners May Be Jonesing For This Kit, But They Should Not Be Manipulated.
