Worth it to do S1 cams before the turbo?
As i sit here and wait for April 1st (the day i have given myself to make a turbo upgrade decision), i am just dying to spend money and i plan on getting the cams with upgraded fuel lobes anyways. Is there any gains to be had on a full bolt-on car with the cams?
Trying to figure out if it is worth my time to buy and install them now and get tuned than wait a month for the new turbo to arrive and find the time to install. Is there any power to be gained since the K04 is pretty much maxed as is?

i thought i read in the ZZP Cams Testing thread that on 93 pump gas the gains are roughly 10-12whp and on E85 roughly 25-30whp, of course with a really good tune. i could be wrong tho, hopefully Matt M can chime in.
I've got the S1 cams paired with the S1 head and K04.
The S1 cams helped from the point of view of opening up the fueling for E85. Before the cams, I was running out of injector on the top end. I was able to raise the fuel pressure and keep myself out misfire. I can't speak to just the cams as far as the butt dyno, because I've never had them without having the head too. I can tell you that I'm able to hold boost until the upper 5,000 RPM range, at which point it drops to about 18-19psi at my lower 6,000RPM shift point.

Nope, not yet. I'm still getting the tune worked out. It's only been a couple weeks since I got it all running. I've got some logs I took with my Dashdaq a few nights ago that show airflow, boost, temps, spark advance, etc. if you want a copy of some of those though. The nice thing is that it records them in a spreadsheet format, so you can organize, sort, filter, and analyze however you want and don't need some special viewing software.

The only PID that might look weird is the boost figure. I've got it set up to show +/- psi boost instead of +psi/-inHg boost. It is a custom calculated value using the difference between the Barometer and MAP I made since there was no way to use two separate measurements for the same parameter with the Dashdaq. As a reference, just take the negative boost reading and multiply by two for an easy rough approximation for inHg when it's in vacuum.

I would think you will see some gain imho but not sure how much with ko4? Your power band will be shifted higher in the rpm range I think the fact that I made the max hp at 7k with s256. I am sure Matt can give a definite answer.
Yeah, with my setup you can really feel it start moving out and then it's time to shift. It's no slouch with the K04, but you can also feel that the powerband is shifted and that the K04 is now holding things back a bit. It doesn't quite have that same initial bam.. torque... feeling. It's got more of an increasing pull freight train feeling.
