ZZP Intercooler

Is there any performance difference between the standard and the increased clearance intercoolers ? Would either of the two better to run on a gms1 car then the other ? Our would one produce more lag in having to pressureize a larger core ?

There's no lag with the larger unit. The only reason they made the smaller unit was to pacify the patrons looking for a little more ground clearance. If you're not "big-turbo," you can use either without noticing any difference.

Makes sense. Would there be any hp gain with either of the intercoolers over the stock unit on just a gms1?

Is there such a thing as a triple-negative?

Your power gains on these cars comes from things like torque-management, boost, waste gate duty cycle, desired air load, and timing. The GMS1 tune is a "canned" tune. It will not change any of these factors because there is a new intercooler on there. As far as the tune is concerned, there is only a difference in IAT2 readings. Will the intercooler gain you any power in the winter? No. Will it gain you any power in the summer? A little bit, but only in short bursts. Your main benefit of a metal intercooler, with the stock turbo, is reliability.
