06 Owners BEWARE!

Ok, now this sucks. I ordered an Injen intake from SportCompactOnly.com. On the site it was listed as an intake for an 05-06 Cobalt SS/SC. Well I got it in today, and I installed it around 4:00 pm. Well lets just say it was hell. I got the stock intake off no problem, it's not my first time installing a CAI on this car. Well I got the intake tube up and everything where it should be, but the intake bracket that goes on the bolt from where the stock airbox was wouldnt line up. It sat about 2 inches back. I tried my hardest to get this thing to sit right and it would do everything in its power not to. So I said screw it, and I put the rubber peice on the throttle body and tightened it, and put the CAI on the other side and tightened that. And then from there I had to fabricate a bracket using that rubber grommet with threads that they gave me, and a peice of metal and another bolt and nut on the other side, where it met the intake. So now that I've solved that problem, the MAF sensor wire WONT REACH! Now this really sucks. So I had to cut and extend the wires for the sensor. A 30 min install took about 2 hours...That sucked...

Maybe your bracket was bent wrong?

This is the first major problem I have heard of with the Injen.

I moved and twisted that intake in ways that I didn't think were possible man. I'm going to put it back up on the lift at work and take pics to show you guys what I'm talking about. I also had a very tight fit in the whole thats there for the intake. I had to make my own rubber bumbers so it wouldn't rub. And now I get this weird high pitched screatching at certain loads and rpms and I think its coming from the filter. So ill let you happens when I put it back on the lift on friday. I'm going to try and see if I can get it positioned right again. Wish me luck but I think I'm going to use the bracket again. What was the model number for you intake Numicus315

edit: But no check engine light yet!! I'm happy about that

Man , I dunno what to tell ya . They had to of sent you the wrong part , or your intake was just made wrong . I just put my Injen in a couple days ago . It took all of about 1 hour to do from start to finish . Everything went up real nice . Initially mine hit on the hood , but I went back and backed off all the bolts and clamps and spent about 5 minutes adjusting everything . It doesnt hit the hood at all now . As a result of adjusting for the hood , where the intake passes thru the hole , it rests on the edge . I just took a piece of rubber and sandwhiched it inbetween so there wouldnt be any scratching to the paint on the tube or any possible vibration . Other than that , mine was about a perfect fit .

i have the k&n and the o6' and there is a fit issue, i instaled and the the tube was touching the fender wall, making a small but noticable gap between the innerfender and the top inner fender wall. im scared of the water getting sprayed in. and there are cell's but the 06 has a different computer than the o5 and eventually it got used to the cAI.

I wouldnt worry about the water , unless your driving thru a flood . I cut a BIG ol hole in the black plastic just inder where the filter is to let more cool air in . Its been like that since I hung a drop in K&N off the stock intake just after I got the car bout 6-7 months ago . Now I have the Injen , same way ....no problems driving in the rain or snow at all

Ok so heres the deal I just spent 4 GOD DAMN hours, trying to get this intake to fit properly. I finally got fed up with fighting with it and called sportcompactonly and they were on the phone with injen for a while. He was like, well if you pivot the arm and pus the top part back it will fit. I was like yeah, this is the second day i've tried to make this fit...don't you think i've tried that. So he got me in touch with injen, i took some photos, and I'm going to e-mail them with them, and well go from there, ill let you guys know how it turns out
