Do Not Touch the sensor with anything! Go to an Auto parts store and get Electo-Motive cleaner. It is made for electrical devices, it is in a red can, made by CRC I think. This is what I have always used at work.

Well I changed my K&N out for my stocker. I feel the power lose. SUCKS BIG TIME!!!
Took it for a ten mile drive so far no light. Like I said in my last post I will let you all know when I get back from work tomorrow. No more mods for me until something is proven.

Ok I checked some datalogs.

Pre K&N I was getting about .4 lbs/min at idle.

Post K&N I am getting .4 lbs/min at idle.

It's going to be a bit harder to get numbers under load but I figure if it is right at idle it should be reading right at other times. It's going to require some more datalogging with the autotap.

I am still not discounting the oil on the MAF yet, but I am starting to think my code could have been thrown but a lose clamp.

Well I've driven 200+ miles with the stock airbox in and no light. Also the car runs smoother without the light on. I was getting alot of bucking under load with light throttle. Anyway I guess we need tuning when we mod this car even if it's a simple CAI. If it was oil on the maf then the light would've come back on. I'm going to send mine back to Modern Performance Monday. I hope they don't try and charge me a restocking fee. I don't think they will they seem to be a good company. I will be saving my money so when someone comes out with a proven set up I will jump on it.

This is very unfortunate news. Especially that it went out when you put the stocker back on. That completely rules out the oiled maf theory, atleast for yourself. I am noticing the car bogging down after a shift, and it isn't quite as smooth. I don't know if this is just the car relearning the air fuel levels. Quite frankly I'm not sure what to think or believe at this point. What a mess.

as posted by Cory from Modern Performance:

Ive had the CEL come on once or twice before, but it was mainly due to the computer "out of memory" issue that the dealership took care of on our car.

We have not had any other issues with CEl's, and let me stress that our cars are equipped with adaptable/learning computers. They may have a CEL at first, but eventually it will go away as the computer will eventually richen the fuel mixture to compensate. So, as long as you have the mass air flow sensor connected properly, eventually the computer will compensate and do away with the lean condition, and code.
So should we all just hang in there and see if the thing goes out? Will the car really re-adjust over time and add more fuel? Hmmmmmm

Got a second CEL after clearing the first. I am going to get some CRC cleaner and try cleaning the MAF.

I will wait for someone who bought this intake to tell me that the light went out and stayed out. I'm tired of hearing from people selling them and making them that the car will adjust to it. Ok what ever. When maverick or someone with only a cai and nothing else done to there car stops getting the cel because the computer adjusted I will be convinced.

Don't mess with the MAF until you aren't 100% sure it is the problem ! The cars who throws lean code with CAI just want to say that the car is leaner than stock. It is not necessary meaning that it is a problem, but it is a bit leaner. Surely it is not pleasant to run with a CEL. About me, I've got the Fujita Intake installed today. Neither before or after we unpluged the battery, and I got no CEL yet with the intake. But surely it is leaner (as we saw on the dyno). Mayber roughly one full point leaner than stock.

I just got back from autozone and one of the codes (i had 2) had to do with pcm memory, which happend because I disconnected the battery. The 2nd one was the lean code. hip hip hooray for k&n.

my car is also bogging down at the begining of each gear. Anyone with the lean code experiencing this? I'm wondering if its because the computer is still adjusting? I am also getting less gass milage. Was 22+ mpg now I'm around 21-20. All city driving.

Since I put back my stock airbox my car has not set any codes. I'm pretty sure it's not the oil on the maf.

Well I guess thats good. But, also bad because there isn't really a way it can be fixed until the retune comes out. Or if all this crap about the computer relearning and fixing itself by adding more fuel is really going to happen. I'm getting worse gas milage already I think.

Yes massive HP gains will be achieved only with an ECU reflash or a piggyback. Please guys wait until SEMA.
