2.0 stroked to 2.2

In order to make my 2.0 lsj a 2.2, what parts would I need?

I know these for sure:

2.2 pistons
2.2 Rods
Obviously bore the engine out to a 2.2

What else would I need? Would I need a 2.2 crank or no? I figure halfcent would know a lot about this

woah.

you're really needing to take a step back.

short list:

2.2 crank
2.2 pistons
2.2 con rods.

but, none of those are stock strong enough. at least not if you beat on it, so you'd be better off finding parts that are hop-ups for a 2.2.

honestly, the small amount of power gained, lot of effort for nothing, IMO

No i'm not talking about going to stock rods pistons etc...i shouldve mentioned that...It would all be forged

Reason being...i'm probably going to build the head and get some pistons...but I figure why not just bore it out to a 2.2 while i'm at it

the bore is already the same, the 2.0 is just a short stroke 2.2 to help it at sustained RPM.

well, if you look at any high RPM motor, the stroke is short, like on a sport bike or F1 car.

the reason for this is that there is a lot of force once the piston has to change direction.

so, to make it work, it would have to be a heavy duty rotating assembly.

you could do it, that's not the issue, the reason GM didn't was most likely because of the cost. easier to make the engine "shorter" than to spend an extra $300 per motor.

the motor is a 2.2 de-stroked, and i would not recommend a stroker kit in this car unless you are willing to invest up to ten grand in this motor.

IMO, I say build the 2.0 with forged parts then go turbo or just spray the hell out of it! but if you go turbo i think you would be way more happy. dont stroke the lsj though not worth it.

I am turbocharged

Yeah I think i'll stick with the 2.0....when I decide to build up the engine, I may go to a big turbo like a gt40...i'll just have to have some sweet cams to make some power at 8000rpm
