Do you know how you put the filter in?
Should be attached to the cap first, then put in.

Maybe if the motor is nice and broken in, it might not affect it as much. I had about 1500 on the new motor.

It was a Bosch filter, something like 3330 or similar. I remember looking it up in the book before I picked it off the shelf.

I don't believe there is any difference in oil filters between Gen 1 and 2 Ecotecs. The one for the LE5 block that I have should be the same as the LSJ.

All the ecotecs use the same filter.
I own a lsj and a car with a le5 in it.
I just order 10 at a time from CED
Change the filter every 1k miles in the cobalt and every 25% in my pontiac G6 le5 wife's car.

That may be the part number you looked up, but was the correct filter in the box. Maybe its miss boxed. What the actual number on the filter you pulled out of your motor?

I use to change the oil every 1k.
But was convinced to just change the filter.

U would be surprised how shitty our filters r.

And plus Wen u buy 10 filters they r Like $6-7 each

And i send off for oil analysis.

But the car is broke now lol stupid TOB

I know Jordan well enough to know he'd install the filter correctly, so you guys just chopping it off as bad filter or gonna look into. I know that worry me and I'd do a little more digging

If that was a bosch oil filter, I can understand some of the distortion to it (minus what ever else happened).

I ran one of those once, and when I removed it the next oil change the pleats were all distorted. I stick with the genuine AC Delco filters. Never had a problem with them.

I know, I read. Replacing the filter every 1K miles is pure pointless
