2.2 header on 2.0 and vice versa?

While searching I fould some threads that mentioned 2.0 parts can be used on a 2.2. I don't know if this is true with and exhaust manifold. The reason I ask is because then a 2.2 header should work on a 2.0 with a custom down pipe in theory...
There someone selling headers locally on craigslist real cheap and I wanted to get one, but I asked and he said for 2.2's.

Nothing, looking for an upgrade. And for $65 lol it would be cheap mod. Except there only 2.2's.

im confused like you. either he's swapping from LSJ to L61 header, and we dont know why, or hes swapping from L61 to LSJ and he just asked about going from LSJ to L61 out of curiosity..

If I remember correctly, the 2.2 headers are the same as the GM Honed Manifold that's supposed to be GM's performance header. So a 2.2 header on a 2.0 is an upgrade for the 2.0 but a 2.0 header on a 2.2 is a downgrade.

....so what your saying ios you thin the 2.2 header outflows the 2.0 header? you will be extremely mistaken if you think thats the case

i think he is refering to an after market header
2.0 factory manifold out flows 05/06 2.2 manifold
07 and up 2.2 used same as 2.0

That's what I meant. I remembered hearing something like that a couple months but couldn't remember it exactly. Basically if your going for headers go aftermakrter.

I should have said, and I don't see it enough on this site. As exhaust manifold's being stock. And headers meaning aftermarket
But I mean headers for a 2.2 that are new and being sold for extremely cheap price. That why I was wondering if I should go for it, if all I'd have to do is fabricate a downpipe.

thats because thats not really the case. the two are interchangeable. cars come with a header stock, or an exhaust manifold stock...whichever term you prefer to use. Just like air-liquid intercooler is exchangeable with heat exchanger. theyre the same thing

I was told a 2.4 downpipe for a manifold would fit the same for a 2.0, is this correct???

I’d say. This was actually a Class 10 desert car header for a 2.4. I think the primaries are a tad smaller than the big 2.0 pipes that available but the only difference I noticed was tippy top end comes on smoother so I bang the rev limiter a little more often. What exactly is the question? Will they bolt up? What size primary?

Yes, stock exhaust manifolds were the same shape and flange across all 2.0 (LSJ) / 2.2 / 2.4 Ecotecs. It'll bolt up... the only potential problem will be with the exit of the downpipe. I don't remember what size pipe the 2.4's exited to compared to a 2.0... I'm also not sure if the newer 2.4's changed to a 3-bolt exit like the LNF's did. I'm under the impression that stock 2.0's and 2.4's had the same cat-back system though... it's been too long for me to be certain though.

EDIT: where are you looking at getting a downpipe from? An OEM pipe is SUPER expensive... you can get an aftermarket catted downpipe for a lot cheaper.

OEM's are over $1000. ZZP is $220. https://zzperformance.com/collection...t-ion-downpipe
