2005 cobalts??
What the hell is wrong with this year cobalt? i own a 05 and keep getting raped by my friends 06. and i understand it could be the driver but we raced like 10 times. i have an intake and he's STOCK. WTF
Also my car had water damage so its a '"R" title.
ANY 1?

I think your right it's the driver Ha ha ha !!!
My 05 rocks, Ive raced 06 & 07 & I beat them both & one had more mods than me as he had cat back & I had stock exhaust
Other wise we were the same!

well, intake isn't much for power, so i wouldn't expect much of a difference from that anyways. But yeah, i'd try switching cars, my 05 is still working like a champ, but i have yet to race another cobalt SS/SC. You know, it could be something as simple as spark plugs.
Not all cars are "created" equal.
Stock for stock, two identical cars can run completely different top speeds (sans governor), 1/4 mile times, braking distance, etc.
The margin of error allowed on a factory assembly line is minute for each part, but add up all the variables and the margin becomes much larger.

it's either a) the tune cause as the year's go by the tunes get more agressive (which is why my 07 IRL stage 2 could pull car's on a 2.85 pullied hp tuned catless 05 IRL with a solid trans mount when i was on stock mount's and full factory exhaust except for a muffler piped from the factory resonator)
or b) HIS pimptastic driving skill's.

Since you have an 05, how many miles are on it? when was the last time he replaced the spark plugs, fuel filter, oil and oil filter, air filter?
I'm just trying put out there that if you fail to do regular maintenance on your car then your car may not run as powerful or as well as it could. This could play a factor in the cars differences if your driving skills are equal. No reason just to blame it on the year, i've heard the the 05's have proven themselves pretty tough.
Obviously your friend has a newer car, so how many miles has he run his, how does he take car of it?

I took my 05 against an 07. both auto. I have the mods listed below and he is stock. the first time we raced i had a full cold air intake that was also throwing a CEL and he beat me. After i put my intake back to a short ram air, I spanked him 5 times in a row.
