2006 SS/SC Mod Help
Hello!
I'm considering finally modding my cobalt to get some extra performance going. My car is currently at about 80.500 miles, with an Injen CAI and a Megan Drift Spec Exhaust. I was browsing the forums to see what mods I should look into and from what I see I was thinking 62lbs injectors, 2.9" pulley, a zzp heat exchanger, and possibly rotated transmission mounts to reduce wheel hop.
I'm also clueless when it comes to tuning. I have 0 idea where to get a proper tuning file, or how to for that matter, and don't know the difference between a dyno tune and a plug in laptop tune.
Also, I would like to know if it is necessary to tune the car right away after putting these mods on before driving the car again.
Any help or advice on mods/tunes would be very much appreciated
Thanks!

You will need a tune if you install larger injectors and a smaller pulley for the car to run right. You can use trifecta or hptuners to get your car tuned. You can choose to get a remote tune or can do it in person if you have someone local to you with hptuners or a trifecta cable depending on which tuning company you choose.
You can buy hptuners with credits and find someone who can tune you remotely. You can also go to badnewsracing, net and order a trifecta tune and cable if you choose to go that route.
I would also recommend buying a wideband to watch your AFR during the tuning phase.
You can install the heat exchanger and transmission mounts without needing a tune as they wont affect how the engine runs.

Thanks for the reply! After some more searching im leaning towards buying a ZZP stage 2 kit with 60# injectors a 2.9 belt, dual bypass end plate, and the heat exchanger... With the kit they say that I send them my PCM so does that mean they just tune my car with the mods from the kit?

I'm not completely sure but I believe they flash a new tune file onto the PCM that is designed for a stock LSJ with their stage kit installed. Its kindof like a canned tune and may not be tuned for things like your CAI or exhaust. It might be possible to request them to tune for it but I don't believe you would have the opportunity to datalog in order to make adjustments to the tune.

I've been told that it is better to get the tune done at a shop.... labor is going to cost 400 bucks and they charge 650 for the dynotune. I just wanted to know if its actually worth double the price of the mods themselves to dynotune it instead of sending in the pcm for them to flash with the ZZP tune.
