What filter are you using? I'm using the AEM dryflow and I've had it for about 7k miles and no cel.

Yup, get the Dryflow if you don't want to worry about oiling it and what not! I have a K&N and have had zero problems with it but it's up to you man!

You shouldn't get a CEL, some have some haven't but you shouldn't from just removing the bottom of the box, just reset the computer by disconnecting the negitive battery cable for a minute or so and then you'll be good, reconnect it and it will relearn its self!

Got me the ol pep boy version, Spectre P4.

So far no CEL, installed in april and drove from Texas to Iowa. Probably about 5k miles so far on it. It's not dry flow though I'm just waiting for the CEL to happen.

oh nothin' I've just read where the oil'd ones usually will throw a CEL because you sensor will develop a thin coating of oil. It sounds kinda reasonable if you've oil'd your filter too much, which I did cause I didn't know it was pre oil'd, so............. I'm waiting for the CEL.

Yes... the oiled ones throw a code... get an AEM dryflow... it'll solve the problem... I'm fighting with a random code now... gotta order an AEM soon.

well as the spectra filter, they have 3 different sizes in one, now yalls aem dryflow where did you pick that up and does it automatically just fit on there...The spectra filter has a screw top where you just tighten it to the airbox and your set to go

yeah it makes your supercharger louder. Its CEL and its your check engine light. The ones that are getting it is the ones using oiled filters and the oil gets on their MAF(Mass Air Flow) sensor. I bought a filter from advance with the a bottle of oil on the side but just didnt oil it so it wouldnt throw a code. Dryflow is supposed to flow better but nothing your are going to notice so to me spending 30 or so more on the dryflow isnt worth it to me. Just my 2 cents.

I am using a universal K&N filter and have not throwing a CEL, I have about 45000km on it and I did the Air box mod at about 2000km, I have cleaned the filter a few times now too. Just if you buy the oiled ones, DONT over oil them when you clean them, then you will get problems. Also I hacked my air box up so it is more opened up than just removing the bottom lid. And, Yes it is Way louder, blower whine FTW!!!!
If you do buy a universal filter, I believe the inlet is 3.25"
Also there is a HUGE thread that is stickied in the how to section about the air box mod...

I never disconnected my battery, there is a lid on the bottom of the airbox that you can remove or if you want you can hack the box up like some of us have done....

heres that thread.....
