Anyone running an Option B tank without the dual pass?
Anyone running an Option B tank without the dual pass?
I just wanted to see how many LSJs, if any, here are running just the option b without the dual pass end plate or any other cooling mods. For me, a dual pass isn't going to a worthwhile benefit since I don't drag or road race. On the other hand, the option b will at least constantly bleed the system and should remove any air pockets and possibly provide somewhat better IAT2 temps.
Is there anything different to take into consideration when installing the option b on a stock cooling system, such as extra steps?
Did you option b only folks see much of a reduction in IAT2s over the stock setup?

im on a 2.8 and stock cooling. if the system is bled and flows fine, i cant really see the absolute need for opt b. much less any of the other cooling mods. i think it would be better to spend the money on a methanol kit and pull some timing out of it as well
and ^ i like the sig. i would have a bunch of graves if i had a sig like that lol

That's the thing, the stock fill neck is very inefficient a bleeding itself. I replaced my intercooler pump months, and I know my system is still not 100% bled of air. I still find myself having to add a little coolant here and there to the fill neck, and before anyone mentions it, no there are not any leaks hose or laminova wise. Its the nature of the stock fill neck
yeah, i mayve had to do that a bit when i replaced my pump, but i really cant remember. i havent touched it in at least 3 years that i know for sure. and i replaced the pump in 09. good luck though. i know plenty have had issues running opt b with stock quad pass, but im not sure if anyones been sucessful

there were threads back in the day. only reason i know is because i wanted an opt b without dual pass and was searching on it. i didnt really research a whole lot, but here is one such thread

search is your friend. google that is. there are a few other threads to the same effect if i remember correctly. i didnt read the whole thread as i get disinterested in cooling mods lol

I ran Opt. B w/o dual pass for 3 years.
I also ran it w/o a front mount.
Worked great.
Yeah if they installed it wrong....
05RLS2 PM me. I'll help you out. You are getting some bad info in here.
In short Opt. B is to provide a continuous bleed to the intercooling system. It is not dependent on the dual pass endplate to work correctly.

option B alone is a good mod. I have run that no problem good results. Good results, because, for example 100% of the stock aftercooling SC cars that show up here at out shop have an empty T bottle reservoir.
low coolant= poor aftercooling.

Bam meaning he covered everything the OP needs to know.
The people that had issue with opt b later found they installed it wrong. Simple as that.
bam what?
i didnt say it couldnt be done. i just said there are countless threads that say "iats higher after opt b install" or "opt b wont bleed". such threads are worthless reading for someone looking at buying and installing opt bas the posters have failed to follow basic install instructions or cant read

You are welcome!
I have read on here where lots of people experience a constant stream of coolant coming from the bleeder on top of the heat exchanger to the bleeder end of the tank. This isn't correct, and I am guessing that this is becuase they are not using the correct orifice or do not have it installed correctly. Do any of you all experience this? If not where do you have the .040 orifice placed at in the system?
^ I don't experience that. When I first installed Opt b, it was the other way around. Fluid was going from the top line to the heat exchanger.
I have the fat part of the orifice in the line and the skinny part going into the fitting
