ARP Head Stud Install Question

Just wondering if this is correct for the ARP head studs

ARP moly lube on the studs, then hand tight in the block

Then nuts tourqed to 75 ftlbs

Or is that not correct.

Thanks guys.

It should have instructions for installation. Mine states to use the Lube and tighten to 80 ft lb in three equal steps or to 85 ft lbs with 30wt oil for 200,000 psi.

hand tight is correct for the studs. then for the nuts, go in 3 steps, increasing torque by 1/3 each time (30/55/85)

Okay cool, so you put the moly lube on both ends of the threads right? block and nuts and end at 85ft lbs?

Yes the lube on both ends and they state if you want it permanent use lock tight on the thread going into the block. Check what torque specs they state for your application, should be in the box. I thought it was 80 ft lbs for the moly lube. Someone in a thread was just saying peoples first mistake with head studs is over tightening..

I used the lube they supplied, and tightened to about 85ft lbs in about 5 steps or so.

I would put the studs in the block to at least 10ft lbs instead of hand tight. Just something I learned from a previous experience with the whole "hand tight" thing.

Or you can put them hand tight and then using an Allen key tighten them to snug.

Do the headstuds go into the stock holes, or do you need to drill and tap them?
