bought my car about a month ago from a dealership. second day I had it, it started makng a strang noise, almost like it was a diesel!! its an 07 with 80,000 on it. Its still under warrenty. But, they dont seems to concerned about it. Car runs fine, and when I step on the gas it goes away... it only happens once and a while. doesnt matter if its hot or cold, just really random. My intercepter shows misfires. I changed the plugs and that did nothing. Anybody help? So I can go into the dealership and tell em to fix this thing?!

#PIP4014: Parts Update - Timing Chain Tensioner Design Change - keywords adjuster after change chain chevrolet damage design engine filter hot idle indicator information lamp lash lifter light mechanical no - (Jan 4, 2007)
Subject: Parts Update - Timing Chain Tensioner Design Change

with any of the following engines:
2.0L Engine (VIN P - RPO LSJ)
2.2L Engine (VIN D or F - RPO L61)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
When replacing the timing chain tensioner, some technicians may notice that the replacement timing chain tensioner does not contain an O-ring like the original timing chain tensioner that they removed from the vehicle (original design shown below). As a result, some technicians may believe that they received the incorrect timing chain tensioner from their parts department.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Due to a design change and related part number supersession that took place during August 2004, the replacement timing chain tensioner from SPO no longer contain an O-ring as shown above. Instead, the tensioner body of the replacement timing chain tensioner is about .480" (12.192 mm) thicker than the original tensioner design. This causes the timing chain tensioner to fit tighter into the cylinder head, allowing it to operate without an O-ring like the original one. As a result, the new design timing chain tensioner (no O-ring) can be used in place of the original design timing chain tensioner (with O-ring).
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.

WITH ANY OF THE FOLLOWING ENGINES
2.0 ENGINE (VIN P - RPO LSJ)
2.2 ENGINE (VIN D OR F - RPO L61)
2.4 ENGINE (VIN B OR P - RPO LE5)
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
CONDITION/CONCERN:
On rare occasions, a tick or rattle noise may be heard from behind the front cover of the engine and/or pieces of a timing chain roller may be found during an oil change. This may be the result of a timing chain concern.
Non-heat treated timing chain rollers were randomly installed in the assembly line hoppers. He advised that this happened sometime between 4/1/06 - 11/1/06 so it can randomly affect late 2006 - early 2007 models.
RECOMMENDATION/INSTRUCTIONS:
If this concern is experienced, inspect the timing chain for missing or damaged timing chain rollers. If a missing or damaged timing chain roller is found, replace the timing chain and gears using the part numbers currently listed in the parts catalog.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.

car has been at the shop for four days now. hasnt made a noise and they wont do anything until it does. GM is saying they have never heard of this problem or that bulletin above. They are now installing a computer and the service manger is taking it home with him and whenever it messes up he presses this button and it records it... FML!!
