Blown piston rings??

hey guys i took a video of my car with its oil cap removed and its not pretty.....if i take my plugs out they are covered in oil. im guessing blown rings idk u tell me. if you could tell me how much it would cost to fix it that would help. im pretty good mechanically wise but iv never torn our engines apart internally before. thanks

Rings aren't hard you don't even have to pull the engine. Pull the head and drop the oil pan. Unbolt rods and push them up. Might have to install new rings and file them to appropriate size and reinstall everything. Might have to hone the cylinders but might not.

yes you have to tear the motor apart to see what exactly got damaged, before you start to repair it. hopefully everything is ok and you can just get away with new rings

an engine can pass a compression test but still fail a leakdown test you need to tear it down i bet you have a busted ringland

you need to have the bore checked to make sure it is still round and that there is very little to no taper in the bore if the cylinder is out of round and has to much taper you will burn oil and the piston bouncing around in the bore will eventualy bust a sleeve or bust the skirt off the piston

just because there isent any scoring dosent mean the cylinder is good with the ringset that comes with diamond pistons the bore better be round and have no taper or it will burn oil the ringsets will not wear to the bore

Mine sounds like this, but doesn't have quite that much smoke coming out on revving it. Worked fine until I widened the plug gap a bit. Then, that.
