boost cut?
boost cut?
well ive had my car for a week now ss/sc, and im also an entry level mechanic and i was just gandering at the engine and i seen what seemed to be a bypass on the s/c. so i went on to mitchell to learn more about it. one thing that i thought was weird is that it said it will open the bypass valve in 1st and 2nd gear, under heavy load, above 5800 rpm. but y? wouldn't that be when u want it the most? y only 1 and 2? i always thought that it pulled longer and harder in 3rd. and i dont really watch the boost gauge especially that close to red line. as of soon if i dont find an answer im just going to over ride it and see what happens.
All it does is increase gas mileage. It bypasses the sc when the motor isn't under a high load. I think your information is mistaken. It closes when the motor is under a high load and forces the air to enter the sc instead of going around it and into the intake manifold. It's a good thing and should be left alone.
