Burning Oil smell after DP install

Smells like my car is burning oil after my catless DP install. Is this normal? Car has just over 67k on it.

Is the downpipe new?

You will get that smell. It's just residue matter inside the downpipe.

It will go away.

DP isn't new, it was used but it's freshly installed. I got the same smell when my flex pipe blew open.

Oh ****. Good point. Just noticed he said catless.

Yeah, when I was catless there was a smell. I called it the classic car smell.

My exhaust smelled just like my father's 65 GTO's exhaust.

That, plus any gasket glue or any sort of WD 40 (if you used it) liquids burning off.

PS my roommate's car got a plastic bag stuck on his exhaust somehow and it smelled like hell for near a month

It smokes a little, I only notice it while standing still and opening the door to look back, I see a small faint cloud of black smoke. But other than that, YES the classic car smell is there while idleing, but I smell burning oil sometimes as I'm backing up.

black smoke means your running rich, blue smoke means your turbo has some oil blow by or piston rings and or ring landings are shot, most likely turbo blow by
