I would probably check for sticking valves, or poor valve-to-guide clearance. No misfires or anything?

No misfires. The computer showed everything running fine.

Found out the head gasket wen't bad around one cylinder. Stock head gasket was used. Head is now at the machine shop. Hopefully this was the cause of the tapping noise. Should I put a new stock head gasket back on or use another?

Stock head gasket is stout, cometic isn't bad either. Go for whichever is cheaper.

I have that exact same noise, I thought it might be the tensioner but i guess not. Anyone know whats making that noise. Kinda worried

Did you ever change the tensioner? Hopefully the gasket was the reason for the noise. I will keep you updated.

I have obviously changed a lot. It is hard to hunt down a noise.

My head was warped a little from when I originally blew the motor, the shop just never sent it out to get checked. Still hoping that was the noise.

after so long the noise hasnt gotten any louder so im guessing a valve issue cause if it were a tensioner problem it would progressively get worse

Found out that the sleeve had come loose and thats what had caused the damage. So now have to tear everything apart again. So pissed!

Mine was from a rebuild. So yours might be from something else. Don't quote me on that though.

Got my car back and everything seems to be fine. They said the sleeve hadn't come loose. Machined the head, put some new valve springs on, that as the next thing I was going to replace, and car runs fine. No noise and clutch feels solid again. Hopefully everything remains solid.

I have the same issue. I rebuilt my motor Diamond forge pistons and zzp 78# valve springs. Ever since i did that I've had a tapping issues. I'm going to check the valve stem to rocker clearance tomorrow. That seems the most logical to cause noise. If the clearence is bad it will just give me a reason to take the head off and get it ported. Did you replace the vavles?
