case/crank relearn

Ok so i put a zzp pcm in along with my 42's and 3.1 pullley. aprrox. 800 miles later 2 codes of P0315 aka case/crank relearn popped up yesterday morning. I'm still under warranty at the dealer so i proceeded to my good friend who is a tech that owns a Snap-On Solus? or Solous... he connected my car. followed proper procedure to do the relearn. it did not work. We cycled the ignition from off to on, hit next, than held brake started motor... acceled to fuel cut off. the snap on tool stated redline should be 4000 5000 rpm range??? on an 06 2.0 lsj. which we all know is incorrect. so we said ok whatever and proceeded. with the zzp pcm the fuel cut off was set to 7k obviously. so we ACCELed to redline, while holding the brake etc... it tach'd out, release gas, let idle for 30 seconds... nothing. it just kept blinking waiting for fuel cut off... so TODAY. i'm going over another friends house and using HP Tuners to do the case relearn. if it does not work today... what could be the problem. should i bring it in to the dealer and just risk them reflashing my tune and driving on a stock tune with 42's and a 3.1 pulley? and just not put a load on the motor until i get it RE-tuned the next day or something? i hope someone can help me out on here or is Tech II the ONLY device that will re-learn it and i'm basically forced to go to the dealer. because i already looked around for a Tech II and nooobody has it around me.

seriously 10 views and not ONE reply... wow i guess multiple threads it is

Hey man. The only tool that I know of that will work is the Tech II. I tried with HP Tuners and with my interceptor and neither worked. I don't think you need to worry about the dealer doing anything you don't want them to. When I went, I just walked in there and told them I had a code for a crank case relearn and I needed a technician to run it for me with his Tech II. They said no prob and did it at no charge.

Good luck!

You got it . Working on a oil leak after work today.

Also, they shouldnt charge you any more than half hour shop time... With a tech 2 this takes them about 15 to 20 min...

ShortStack: Well i'm still under warranty i shouldn't be charged correct?
TransAm: you are correct when i told him case relearn, he starred at me like dood wtf. than i was like they ALSO call it a Crank Relearn... so we went through the CKP or w.e. and yea did the process. i made a appointment with the dealer on monday morning. i told the service guy i'll scan it for you guys with you as my witness to save time and to know... its a relearn that needs to be done. investagtion by a tech is not needed. but there is NO reason for them to be under the hood ya know? plus ZZP says there pcm is not detectable by the dealer...

Your will not be covered under the warranty for this if they know you did a reflash/ECU swap. Now if they don't look at it to hard they might do it but with a 7k redline and no evidence that you got the GM stage II I say you have a 50/50 shot of being covered.

Its a pretty important thing...

if zzp says this, go and try it out... If for some reason they say "no this isnt your pcm blah blah" then go back to zzp and ask them wtf is up?

But if zzp says it works, atleast give it a shot.

i just called up tune time performance, they said they use snap on solus to do it also, and there widely known around my neck of the woods. could it be the snap-on just not malfunctioning correctly? beucase i asked if they used tech II and they said no we use snap on to perform our case relearns... ughhh

your right shortstack lol

normally, only dealerships have tech 2s. Some other places might have them, you just have to ask...

as far as i know, the tech2 is the only thing that works.

oh no shortstack i'm not trying to band aid it, it IS getting done tonight by HP Tuners or by my scheduled appointment with the dealer on Monday. i was just trying to reset the whole system to give it a second shot, when i talked to ZZP they said its a hit or miss with there PCMS well any pcm really. so obivously i got "hit" and hoping second time around i was a miss lol. but its 100% going to be taken care of no matter what. if they have to reflash me ya know honestly, i'd rather be safe than sorry ANYDAY. i'd drive it home with the 42's i live about 5 minutes away from the dealer... put my stockers back on.

Rodimus Prime they said i could relearn with the Snap-On Solus... it didnt work. i mean i am giving HP Tuners a shot tonight. But my hopes can easily be killed as you can see... like whats your probability % that HP Tuners will work if Snap On didnt? gods honest truth broseph

i am 99.9% sure you dont need a case learn done at the dealer. any scan tool with the option SHOULD be good.

I just can't do it with the aeroforce interceptor, fuel just won't cut-off until redline ... brake depressed, handbrake engaged, accessories off.
