cat. convertor

Just a quick question, until i get my down pipe, which i dont know how long that will be, but could i take my convertor off, and bust the insides of it out? That filter stuff. If i can, will i get a code, how loud would it be, and would i lose or gain any power?

I can't say what exactly would happen to the Cobalt. But on my WRX you can gut the cats. It will be louder and you should throw a cell(cat inefficiency). Should be some type of performance gain, at least better throttle response. You shouldn't lose power. You may be able to put a resistor in and keep the code away.

Never really hurts to gut your cat. It'll open the exhaust up a tad and maybe net you a very marginal hp gain. Probally be a bit louder too. It may throw a CEL though, much like my de-cat downpipe did.

Your tune is already set up for a catless dp, but I would just wait to get one if that's the route you are going.
