CEL and Bad Acceleration

So I get off work today and go to the store, on the way my CEL comes on and I can notice a power loss. So I say screw the store and go to my local chevy dealership. They scan the car and it gave them a trouble code of P0172, (fuel system rich) and something else about a misfire code. They said that it was not one particular cylinder mis-firing but they would take "turns".

First off has anyone ever herd of this?
I am kinda freaked out because this dealership has only sold 2 SS/SC's and did not have another on the lot. I got mine about 50 miles away.

So the dealership took and preformed a Fuel Injector Service and added some **** to my gas tank and sent me on my way. Problem is still there. So any suggestions? Besides taking it to another dealership. I think they just did not want to look into it that much, they put 35 miles on my car in about 90 min and all I have to show for it is a piece of paper that sayd they put4 miles on it.

Do you all think my spark plugs could be bad and they are causing a misfire?

Please help me in anyway you all can, I really appreciate it.

Bump for some info please

Get them To Reflash the Car to the newest PCM firmware. It should clear up the codes your having. You can also swap in a set of plugs in there aswell.Fairly cheap too do aswell.
The Cars run fairly rich from the factory. I've set missfire codes before with rich conditions.

What grade fuel do you put in the car. You better be putting in premium.

YES I run premium fuel and I usually get it from Shell, never had anything else in there besides Octane Booster about a month ago when I went to the drag strip but did not notice any difference so it was in my eyes a waste of money. So I just ordered the plugs but am prob going to go buy some anyways just so I have an extra set for somewhere down the road or something. So the earliest I can take my car in again is a week from monday because I am in the navy and we are leaving for a few days. So I will make sure I get on top of that as soon as I get Back. Thanks for the help guys!!!!!

Octane booster is a complete waste of money. You will see at BEST maybe a .5 increase in octane.

Well the car is back in the shop....talked to them about the 37 miles when they only loged 4 and the car is even worse for some reason. It is almost as if I am driving a auto with the lag that is there and I pulled a spark plug 5 days after I replaced them and it did not even look as if they were replaced. So dropped off the car yesterday and check on it tom. Hope all goes well with it and they dont say they need it iver the week end

Mine has the same random misfire , they did the whole fuel injector cleaner route but it still does it . Mine will never misfire when on the gas , only when its winding down from rpm or idling. They ordered a cat and i'm having it installed Tuesday. I'll see how it goes ,BTw mine has all the latest pcm updates and it didn't change . Mine never threw a cel either , i just checked it myself cause i felt it .

Other things ive done .... changed plugs , changed gaps .30 .35 .40 , fulled my K&N cleaned the maf and intake tube all the way to the blower (found a little oil from the pcv system ) , cleaned the throttle body then replaced the original factory filter with the uncut airbox . I wish it would set a cel that way i would know which route to take . Driving me nuts , but i havent noticed a bid power loss. Good luck with yours .

So the car goes back into the shop tom to get worked on they are saying it is the MAF sensor that is bad but this is the second one in 4 months. Also changed the plugs and nothing changed. I am trying to figure out if it could be the CAI that is causing this but I never drive in the rain. If it is raining I tend to drive the Eclipse. Do you all think there could be a sister problem issue? They also said they did the latest PCM flash but I dunno. I want to lemon this car and see if they will give me another but I have had it for 9 months and it has been in the shop atleast once every month. Love the car to death just hate the problems it is giving me. Any more suggestions?

Misfire on cylinder 4... maybe an injector problem? Have they done a compression test? Checked the spark plugs? Possibly a broken rocker arm? I am just throwing out anything here... lol

Try switching your cai back to stock. The new piping changes the flow characteristics in the intake and throws the readings for the maf off. Our mafs are really picky on these cars and very sensitive. Distance from the tb, air moving on one side of the intake rather than the other when it was stock, both could throw off the maf readings.
