clutch questions..
clutch questions..
hey guys so im looking at clutch.. gonna need it very soon... does anyone know the diffrence between the spec stage 3 and the stage 3+.. im doing 2.6inch pulley.. a big portjob.. (little smaller then blown 4 banger) an hopfully 3inch cat back.. anyway.. another question was is a new flywheel nessacary.. i ko it will help but how good is the stock one.. can it take 350whp (i know i wont get that it will b around 290 when i get my complete cooling mods) but just to be on the safe side.. any fast answers will be apperciated!! thank you so much!
the stock flywheel is fine for now but you will need a new one if you get up to that high of power. anything over 280whp i would say go aftermarket. the stage 3 + is meant for people that beat on their cars alot and do lots of racing where as that clutch can handle the abuse better than a normal stage3 i would reccomen stage 2+...i have the same mods your mentioning and i have that clutch and its excellent and not expensive...also i would just buy the flywheel now so you can put it i when the tranny is open and it will help out alot anyhow!!!! hope i helped

Stage 3+ if you can afford it, it will last for years, and take a lot of abuse. IMO it is the best clutch upgrade out there. We have them @ www.TurboTechRacing.com

I dunno about the aftermarket flywheels, our should handle any power you'll be making with that setup. It also helps with start off's and low end power due to it's rotational mass.
I haven't heard anything bad about the spec 3+ yet, so if you get a deal on it.. go for it.
I know I'll be in the market for a clutch soon myself (even though the stocker is doing fine) so I'm just waiting for feedback on the exedy hyper, spec 3+ and bully stg IV before I make my decision

The exedy FEELS SOOOOO GOOD!!!
although getting used to it takes a good minute.....I've already stalled it twice LMAO But the pedal just feels so much firmer and the car revs pretty freely and drops revs the same way. I don't know if it was the best choice for a car i put about 300 miles a week on though, although Im sure Ill get used to it.

ok i have another question... now i see the stage 3 comes with 6 or 4 puck which wuld be better.. i was also told that the puck slam when they ingage an it makes it hard for street driving an just bad on the tranny.. an the stage 3+comes with a disc.. is this tru.. i dont wanna have to save up 800 when i can pay 589 lol

The exedy doesn't really engage THAT bad. It's not like as smooth as the stock one, but what can you really expect, seeing how the new one has a higher clamp load/torque rating and is made out of entirely different material. I would think the "slamming" as you say doesn't happen all the time. Sure, at first it might "chatter" but I would think that once the pucks and flywheel get used more often they might like "bed" in to say, making it somewhat smoother. I have no problem driving the exedy in good amounts of traffic, like I said, it's not easy at first but you'll get the hang of it pretty fast......I don't know about resurfacing the stock flywheel to work with the bully clutch though. The stock one kind of has like a lip on it and seems like it would be a pain in the ***** to get resurfaced. The exedy seems like a good combo(clutch+flywheel+pressure plate), that was well thought out and well developed.
