Cobalt mods is it worth it
Cobalt mods is it worth it
ok i got mods in sig basic stage 3 with header catless dp and exhaust. my question is for more mods is it worth the investment or would it be better to get a better platform. i really wanna wait 2 years in this car until the turbo ones drop in price. or look into a svt cobra just wondering what other peoples thoughts where when going to a tvs and e85 and meth if they are worth while upgrades
Personally the power level you are at is all I would personally push... remember FWD is tough to keep power to the ground.
If you want more power I would start looking at a more capable platform such as RWD or AWD

agree 100%. I had stage 2 in my cobalt...wanted more power. Spent a **** loud of money on meth kit, tvs and other power adders. More power came but it became twice as hard to get traction...so i had to spend more money on traction mods. Finally i had enough of it and bought a new car.
im in the same predicament. I think though more or less without spending a **** ton of cash we are limited to 300 or low 300's. Figure its almost 5 grand to go hahn. For that you could have a 1/3 of the cost of a better platform paid for. An 03 cobra modded is going for low 20's to high teens right now. And a buddy of mine just sold his Turbo Cobalt with a salvaged title for like 12 grand with like 20k miles on it. SOOOOO go RWD or AWD or figure on never making power without spending a lot. Just my opinion though
Its all relative. You have to pay to play. You can either play with this car and its wrong wheel drive. Or you can get a better platform. I honestly love modding this car because its a reliable sleeper. However I will definitely be buying an awd car (most likely an evo or a G37 coupe). But then your talking about spending a good deal of money. Sure you could sell your car for a older car with more miles. But if its your daily driver, keep in mind gas prices (4 cylinder vs 8 cylinder), reliablity, and cost of ownership. For me this car has been a ******* rock ( although some aren't so lucky).
I bought this car and paid it completely off. SInce then I have it all set up with a TVS, meth, exhaust....the works and its pushing out 320whp. To me it doesn't get much better driving a 320whp car with no payments, and its reliable and fuel effiecent when I want it to be.
SO to each his own. I love this car and I will most likely keep it for a long ass time untill I finally beat the **** out of it. By then it will be what 2013 (I hope)? Who knows that cars will be out by then, I'm sure there will be some crazy **** out that will curb stomp most cars. Or the sick cars coming out this year and next year will be easy to find used. So do what makes sence to you, and try not to dig yourself a hole of debt just so you can say you have a car thats faster than a cobalt.
Someone is always faster....

Your dissapointed in your car cause you don't wanna put the effort or do things the right in your car. If you keep being cheep with your car, you'll get those results. The car is only as good as the owner makes it.
