I also found it weird that my car came installed with A/C Delco / NGK Iridiums rather than the platnium plugs as well as my 0.035" plug gap.
my book for an 06 ss/sc claims .042 and thats really weird that you had iridiums especially since iridiums are terrible for boosted cars.

Yep it's def strange, but i heard that the later 07's came with iridiums.

See your manual states a different gap too. I knew GM had all different gap sizes. Very interesting.

A colder plug produces a cooler spark thus reducing combustion chamber temps. When you start to make more power you also begin to create more heat. This is the reason why people drop a heat range once they start producing around 50+ bhp over stock. 95% of the Cobalts on this site would never need to go more than 1 range colder with their plugs. A GMS2 car is perfectly fine running the stock heat range.

I've tried .032 all the way up to .040 with my BKR7E's, couldn't really tell any difference between the gaps. Have it at a .035 now and it runs pretty good.

I meant 95% of the cars on here do not need 2-step colder plugs. I have 1-step colder plugs, and yes I need them

You should be able to see it.

Stock heat range is perfect for GMS2, but if you feel you need to change your plugs 1-range colder will work fine.

More Plug Feedback -

After installing my 2.9 pulley, Stage 2 injectors and another tune from Vince at Trifecta it was time to install a set of BRK7E's gapped to .035
Based on my "slipping clutch" dyno the car is making more power and fuel economy is up.

Clutch Day is August 17th!!! I can finally get all the power to the wheels...

Badmab header goes on a couple of weeks after that....

0.040" is a pretty large gap for our cars.

Hell, my car came gapped from the factory at 0.035". I'm surprised you dont experience any spark blowout with your current mods running that large of a plug gap.

DUH!! Someone once told me I am not very detail oriented can't remember their names.....

Thanks for pointing that out.

I meant .035. I gapped them at my desk yesterday when reading through articles. I gapped one of them to .040 but then after reading determined the concensus was .035. re-gapped the first one back to .035 and checked the others which were all .035 out of the box.

Ok cool.

Yeah, our manuals are messed up telling us to run a 0.040 & 0.039 (07's) gap. I ran my stock gap (0.035") through GMS3 with the M62 w/o any spark blowout issue. It wasn't until I swapped my blower did I start to experience spark blowout.

Remember you want the largest gap possible w/o spark blowout. That's why I try to tell people to gap their own plugs and not just follow what everyone else tells them. Every car will respond differently.

Thanks for the info.

I can't wait to get my clutch fixed it is driving me nuts not being able to hit boost without slipping. Got my appointment all set as soon as I get back from vacation it goes in. Last step for me will be the header and maybe adding a HE if my data show AIT's could benefit from it.

Living on the 'Wet' Coast we don't tend to get many realy hot days so I am not sure how much benefit an HE will be with my mods.
