Gapped too large = spark blowout

Gapped too small = possible fouling of the plug

Feels like you hit the rev limiter.

hum ic, now if u put higher octane fuel in the car like say 100+ would that stop the spark blow out? because sometimes my car will feel like that if i use some brands of 93 fuel, i add a little booster and problems solved...?

No spark blowout is caused from having to large of a gap for your application.

Think of your spark plug as a candle. When you blow air at the candle the flame pickers out. A spark plug is similar if the gap is too large. A tighter gap will produce a stronger spark, and help prevent blowout.

You have to remember not to go to large, or to small of a gap. To large of a gap will cause spark blowout. To small of a gap can cause the plug to foul out. You need to be some where in the middle. That's why I tell people to gap their plugs themselves, and to not listen to the kiddies on here that always claim 0.032" is best. While 0.032" is a very common gap for modified SS/SC's and 0.035" for stock to lightly modified SS/SC's, you still need to determine which is best for your car. Every car will react differently.

I recently purchased a 2005 ss/sc from a dealership, thought the car was bone stock but, after talking to the owner who traded it in i found out he had the GMPP Stage 2 installed. Well the car has 85k on it and the previous owner never did any maintenance other than oil changes. I plan on changing out the ic pump and fuel filter this weekend. The question i have is i bought some stock heat range iridiums from zzp(didnt realize i had stage 2 upgrade till after i order plugs), will the stock heat range be fine to run? Only has stage 2, no exhaust mods, no intake mods.

my current setup hated ngkbkr7e plugs.
went back to stock at a 0.032 gap since anything slightly higher would cause blow out,
everythings gravy now.

Stock plugs even saw nitrous , high octane mode numerous times, 7200 rpm shifts etc and i had no issues.
The GM kits were developed around the stock plugs, plus im sure all the GM race parts on the test cars ran stock plugs also.
they arent that bad at all but every car reacts different though, this is just my experience
Im GMS3 with a ton of goodies btw.

I don't care what anyone says, these motors do not like copper plugs, I had them and they made the car run like total crap.

I now have the iridium version at 0.032" and the car runs fine.

This is the exact phenomen I am having!!! 100 octane race fuel or octane booster in 93 and it runs hard as hell! 93 octane only and morning but hesitation misfires and all kinds of ugliness

No... high octane will not prevent spark blowout. Picture spark blowout like a candle. If you blow on a candle to hard enough, it blows out. Tighten up on the spark gap, and the spark becomes stronger, and has less chance of being blown out. Now a tight gap is a good and all, but the widest gap w/o spark blowout is best for power and efficiency.

High octane prevents knock, and as I've mentioned to you before.... GMRS3's high octane mode's knock detection is not as sensitive as when you are in default 93 octane mode.
