Compression 9:5 to 11

The 2.3 liter stroker lsj zzp engine has a 11 compression ratio. Has anyone gone to a 11:0 compression level? I know they sell 10:5 but have not seen 11. And how much hp would you gain?

id run that if it were a race only motor, but on the street id stay lower. to run any timing you will need to run 100 octane, or e85

I would say go for it. You will make more power with lower compression and higher boost pressures as long as you can keep IAT2's low but that seems to be easier said than done with these engines. So going to a higher compression ratio you will increase hp as well as torque by staying on a relatively bigger pulley. turbo tim made i think like 320 or 330 something with his engine on a 2.9 with 11:1. Now granted he had cams and more cubic inches to work with but I really believe making 300 hp with the m62 and a higher compression ratio is easily attainable.

Stock pulley with 11:0 compression would be awesome. It's in the blowers effieceny range and would increase power a ton. Work the head, add some cooling mods. The hard part is adding enough timing without getting knock. Power on 93 wouldn't be the greatest, but throw some 100-110 in that bitch and it will make unbelievable numbers.

I wat to go this route because I plan on going twin charged one day so the tvs would be a waste of money.

high boost pressures and high compression do not mix for the street. stay with stock compression on that twincharged kit

I know the 11 compression will only be for the stock M62. I just dont know who I want working on my car who knows cobalts in Sacramento? I go to endless motoring for parts. Plus soony the shop owner is a Suspension guru. He's getting me K sport coilovers for 1000 straight thats installed and everything.

11:1 would likely work great with a stock pulley and cooling mods, bigger injectors, ect. it will make a lot of torque, however i doubt it would be much different than a 2.8 on a stock-ish motor (im talking just high comp/stock pulley vs stock motor 2.8, no head porting ect). the only upside i can see is lower charge temps. if you want to drop pulleys, as i said earlier, be ready to have to throw race fuel in.

If I had to make a guess, I would say that in a year or two everyone with an M62 will want compression as high as possible.

I'll know more when our intake manifold is done and tested.

eh, you can make more power from proper headwork. Raising the compression isn't always the smartest idea.

I wouldn't put much stock in that guess, not everyone wants to tear a motor apart, especially when you can bolt on a turbo and make more power without touching the engine

Im running advanced timing on 10.5:1 compression pistons, on 93 octane. Stock pulley on M62. I would say im comparable, power-wise to a staged SS/SC. Before I was even really tuned, I pulled pretty easily on my friends basically stock SS/SC.

make sure whatever you make still allows the TVS to fit on, clearance wise.
the TVS crowd will probably be your biggest market on that one

stock fitment and bolt up, different IC. I haven't posted because it may not be worth doing and after seeing the crap in the other intake thread, I'd rather just handle it on our end before discussing. That way I don't have to listen to everyone say it wont work or they know how to do it better.

sounds good. by all means, PM me any results you see when you're done. I'm planning on going 400whp on pump gas with a TVS, and if the IM helps, im all over it. course i have some bottom end building and head porting to do first
