Crank sensor Relearn?
Crank sensor Relearn?
I want to install my stage 2 kit from OTTP but I don't have the tool needed to do the Crank sensor relearn would it destroy my car if I drove it less then a mile down the road to have the crank sensor relearn done? im trying to save my money by only having to pay a shop for what I need them to do
You can see if a local auto parts store has thee GM techII tool, I doubt they will but its worth a shot. Or find someone in your area with HPT or the Trifecta cable and software as these can alse do the CASE Relearn.
now I just got the car back got the parts installed at a friends place the weird thing is that there is no CEL and no security I had to go though ....any answers?
I have questions. Are you sure the PCM was swapped out? If no security relearn was necessary then the PCM was never swapped out. Might want to check and see that he did this and you just don't know about it. The crank relearn code would be present too. Sounds to me like he didn't swap out the PCM. When you ordered did you only order a tune file because your friend has HPTuners? If thats the case then you don't need a security relearn or a crank relearn.
just called OTTP to verify and they said it could take a few miles for the CEL to actually come on but you should get it done ASAP anyway just to be sure so thats what I just did
you can defentally tell just by looking at the new PCM that it was changed out and I dont think a freind would try to blow my motor like that......and if it was not swaped out me pushing 17 psi i only did one quick second gear pull wouldn't be as smooth as it felt and there would be a CEL after that pull and there is not the parts where changed out
