Dangers of porting your blower?

Hey I am interested in porting my blower in preparation for some pistons, head work, and nitrous. Is there any danger to porting the head? SHould I do it myself or pay 300buks for the intense one.

Um you said porting your head, but I think you meant blower. There are dangers. You could get metal in your bearings, your could do a crappy job, and mess it up, you could cut your finger off, all sorts of fun stuff.

It is pretty easy overall, but practice makes perfect. If you have the 300, you can buy the intense one, but its not ported very much. I port my jobs twice as much on the inlet, and only smooth the silencers not make them bigger. It's totally up to you man, it takes me an hour and half to take it off port it and put it back on, but first time expect more like 5 hours up to an entire day.

whats the deal with getting a tune with a ported blower?? Is it needed?? It's really hard to find a place to tune around here. I am wary that if I port my blower then don't tune it I may damage my vehicle.

just dont widen the top of the V, if you take it out too far you will double stack the air (not a good thing) make sure everything is smooth and even, if its all crooked you will be disrupting the airflow.

contact 06g85ss/sc, he can port your blower if you are local. i did the total job in just over an hour that included taking off the blower, porting and replacing it. if you are somewhat mechanicaly inclined its a breeze to do.

I have a motor with Cams on "La Banana" the race cobalt, and they are shitty. BTW Colt Cams. I think they would be better stock.

As for tuning, you don't HAVE TO tune, but you will be a little lean.

well i am pretty "mechanically inclined" so i think i may take a stab at porting the blower but prolly only to 1/4" to 3"8 of an inch. and i will make it smooth no worries. i am gonna tune in about 2 weeks for my 2.7 plus porting so ill just take it easy for a bit
