200 bucks for a drop in temps of less than 10* it's retarded or 200 bucks on a meth kit that drops 20-30* you do the math!

so i am going to have to say to save your money and dont get option b

thanks
Option B is there for the extra coolant but it is more there to bleed the air out of the system, as it is nearly impossible to get all the air out of Option A.

The surge tank is not pointless, as it provides an escape route for the self-purging of the air in the system. With Option A, you will spend the next couple weeks checking the level of fluid and trying to get the air out of the rather small window neck. With an extra surge tank, it takes care of itself. Option B is to provide cooler temps, yes, but it is more for keeping the engine safe from the heat-soak. A true Option B setup will give most people enough to run at the track all day without the heatsoak of the stock system.

less than ten? you got your facts wrong. with the plate and opion B you have constant cooling while the meth is only sprayed at a certain time. meth is awesome at wot, but when your done spraying what is keeping your engine cool? the option B

i wish i could compare my temps to a person that is "just spraying meth", I definitely hear about methanol's cooling abilities, but i doubt theres anyone else out there running anything cooler than what i have without meth injection.

Although the cost may be more, $240 for dual pass, $100 for option b, $200 for at least double the flow pump, $200 for front mount including plumbing ($30 in spilled dexcool from all the times i had to drain the system but we won't count that). $740 for amazing amounts of cooling, but reliable cooling that i don't have to worry about, i can run all day at a track, no troubles. No filling and no tuning needed either, strictly increase in performance and stamina.

my highway temps, iat2 vs iat1 are 8 degree's warmer.

running a 2.7 with meth, spinning it to 7900 rpms. my iat2's hit 124 degree's with an ambient temp of 65 degree's. three back to back runs in a row.

no dual pass.

I'm done with this thread.... you guys don't listen to reason! And Area and myself aren't running just pure meth! We also start spraying at 4psi so it cools plenty!

Well, I mean I bought it off some 1 from around here but I'm not sure if it was just the plate or the plate + optB...

this is one of the first posts that actually made some sense in y its even better but still i believe that i will just work with option a until i feel that i really need option b otherwise meth seems way more worth it to me

just to add some fun to this post as this forum sometimes gets cranky I am installing a one pass four port laminova Sunday....of course, I already have the option B surge tank, as do all serious racers....oh and my laminova flows right to left...or is that left to right? Cant tell you everything, but I bet the serious thinkers would know which way a one pass could/should flow.... or is it really a 4 pass?

Thank you. I was beginning to doubt if even anyone was reading my posts...

Meth is cheaper, no doubt. Hell, the best thing to do would be to go both dual-pass, Option B, and meth.

It is said that ANY thing that you can do to make the intake charge cooler is exponentially beneficial.

I run dual pass endplate with Option B. I can tell a huge difference from stock, not so much cooler intake temps, but from back to back to back to back runs with absolutely no loss of power. I will eventually run a Cobra heat exchanger in addition to the stock system. Then sometime waaaay down the road I'll probably do meth. But I have absolutely no regrets for purchasing dual pass with Option B.

yea but i would still like to see proven difference between option a and option b because most of the people who get option b get it the same time they get the a

I've Been Reading this thread and have been looking for a solution to My heat ravaged Balt. OK I drive my car alot on road tracks and i drive for about 45minutes hard thrashing and i have to park it and cool it down. I am looking for THE MOST in cooling mods.

Now I already purchased A Mustang Cobra H/E with the BWOODY mounts My dealer will install that for me.

I need to know if this dual pass intercooler plate and the option B will Work out with this COBRA H/E without any problems like modyfing to make things fit.

Also if i add Meth + H/E + Dual Pass how much cooler will i be running because i do notice significant loss with my current stock cooling set-up.

BTW i am running Stage 2. Also what about spray/mist sprays some sort of nitrous on the front mount thus cooling the air charge i just heard about it would that also help please i need to know which cooling combos will work which will install and work together well. Could i have links for these parts so i can give it to my friend at the dealership who will order it for me. thanks

Once again, the difference between Option A and B is really the system bleeding itself of the air. Air in the liquid intercooler system = barely working liquid intercooler. You may get lower intake temperatures due to the extra coolant, but it's more to eliminate heat soak from repeated runs, and to bleed the air out of the system, just like the stock engine radiator does. (That's essentially what it is, a second radiator system.)

With Option A, you have to constantly check the level of fluid, waiting for the air bubbles to come up out of the system, hopefully to the tiny window/filler neck, but even then, the intercooler itself has the inlet/outet hoses at the bottom of the heat exchanger, air can still get trapped in the top of the heat exchanger, drastically minimizing it's effectiveness.

With Option B, you fill up the surge tank right after install, then once again the next day after it's sucked some of that fluid into the system. There is a seperate bleed line that goes directly from the surge tank to the top of the heat exchanger, right where that pocket of air resides. I filled it up the first day, topped it off the next, and haven't worried about it since. It's been 2 months now.

Oh, and if you think "Well why don't you just top off the top of the heat exchanger where that air pocket is...?" think again, the 1/4 inch hole that you tap into is big enough for only the brass fitting that goes into there, not to mention the clearance issues you'll have with any funnel, and trying to get anything past that radiator support rail that's there.

Option B. It's what they used on the Time Attack Cobalt, through GM. I trust that.

Go w/ all three. You see the most benefits from Meth injection, followed by the H/E and then dual pass. For road racing, an ideal setup is the dual pass w/ option b and an upgraded or additional H/E along w/ the Meth injection. That will not only keep your cooling system efficient, but help dramatically reduce your IAT2 for the most benefit. You will be able to gain power, as well as maintain it after multiple laps...

what people are failing to see if that the time attack car has a huge heat exhanger on the front of it. there is also a bunch of little things here and there that gm does not tell you about either
