why wont it matter? how will the dealer ever know that i took the intake off? if they ask i can say i took it off to check the air filter.

where the maf gets bolted into the intake is a thicker diamater then where the air filter goes. i heard that if you cut off the small section where the air filter goes to make the piping diamater equal you will not get a cel.
sorry no pics but if you look at pics of the intake on ebay you can see what im talking about

they will know if its been taken off. if your light comes on. and even if it goes out it puts out a code and they will and can know.

It's just an air filter..... If he sucks up water and kills his maf or engine he pays. Otherwise they dont care. They have to prove the mod caused the problem. There's a gazillion posts about how modding affects your warranty.

Watch it with that dry flow, they are known to let water through. I clean my MAF out and dry things down if I HAVE to drive in the rain. Already toasted one MAF with the AEM as a result of moisture. It may be able to be brought back fromt he dead, but I found a wicked deal on one so I replaced it. Retail I think is about 300$ canadian.

LOL
Tell my dealerships to not worry about the intake..
From my impression I thought he said he cut from the MAF down... meaning the air box is gone..
my bad if I read wrong folks

I don't get why a dryflow filter would cause anymore problems. Isnt the factory filter a dry filter as well?

Nice man. eBay intake FTW. There is no sense in spending $200 on the same aluminum piping with a name brand on it.

Take a look at the stock air box and you'll see that it protects the filter very good. Its also very restricting. I have made sure the area where my intake is, is sealed real good by the wheel well. However it still manages to get moisture in it. The maf is very close to the filter, so it wont take much. If it's really raining, I dont drive with the AEM on. I am suprised no one here mentions this as I know 2 other guys who have had the same problem with it. I also know some that havent though, but they are alll 05's... hmm

first off, what the hell is the ebay intake? i'm curious as i guess i'm a newb and have never seen one. and second, the day i got my k&n installed, it started to rain so hard that even with my wipers on full they couldn't keep up at all. within 5 minutes some streets were flooded, and me and my buddy were driving in it. never had a problem, and it rained for a good 15-20 minutes hard like that.

interesting. Thanksfor the reply. I left my cover on just in case and I stil enjoy the extra sound and little extra power from just the filter. Its just breathing through the 3 straw holes haha. I thought about drilling them larger but figured it would make the air flow more turbulent or something like that.

i dont understand why people will call people stupid for spending the money to get a nice looking intake but not say a word about people buying shiny parts for the engine like fuel rail covers and such.

Just so you know I'm a Parts Manager of a Chevy Dealer in Arizona and unless you swallow water through your intake, most dealerships don't care! Now if they see additional power adders or an abused car then obviously even an intake can be taken into account! Depends on how you treat and maintain your car!
