Engine Shutdown Please Help!!!

Driving to work today, I was in 1st gear after pulling out of Mcdonalds I gunned it once going striaght. At about 5-6k RPMS the engine lost all power and sounded like it completly shut off, the gauges went to 0 and then all the sudden it was running again. Only mods are stage 2 with a 2.93 Pulley and a CAI.

Any thoughts?

Did you just put that 2.93 on there?

3 weeks ago. It has run great ever since, even at 6500-7000 in second gear, it never gave problems. I highly doubt the pulley made the engine shut down. It actually seemed like the computer shut it down...

I am not questioning the pulley. I just wondered if you were the same person who started a thread wanting a 2.93 just becuase noone else had a 2.93. Just need to know what kind of mentality Im working with here.

Did the car actually stall or did it stay running?

It felt like it completely stalled. I don't know if it was just the computer going into some limp mode or what. After the RPMS went to 0 for about 3 seconds they went to an idle and I had power again.

If the computer went into Limp Mode... it would tell you. It flashes PWR REDUCED on the DIC.

Other than that... cars do weird things. Run some Lucas Fuel System cleaner through it and pretend it never happened.

It was a comfortable 65 degrees outside, a little on the humid side no doubt.

Cool, nothing flashed or popped up on the DIC.

5 blocks later I had to try it again so I did. I went in first up to about 6-6500 rpm and had no problems. I did that twice before I ended up at work.

I have that same problem. When I first start the car in the morning or after it has been off for a while my car will just stumble big time if I get on the gas after starting it. If I let it run for a few minutes I do not have that problem.

Jesus Christ... have you ever heard of letting the car warm up?

And having things like the A/C / Heater and Rear Defrost on will make the car idle hard and occasionally stumble.

When it is 90 degrees outside it shouldnt take long to warm up as you say. I have never had a car (owned all generations of camaros) that did this.

Camaro doesn't equal Cobalt

Its a Supercharged 4-Cylinder... it takes time for the engine to get stability, especially on a 2.9.

Still just wierd. No code no nothing, runs great 5 blocks later. I'm going to put the stage 2 pulley back on in case I have to end up taking it in for warranty work.

Don't bother with the pulley. My dealership never even realized I had a different one on there.

Should I put the stage 2 bolts back in? I painted my smoothflow pulley black, I have nates stainless steel bolts in now.

Steel Bolts are fine. They are bolts. There is nothing to worry about. And I'm telling right now. The dealership isn't going to find anything wrong... so I wouldn't waste the time to take it there - like I did a million times.

I talked to the dealer and they said that if it starts to happen frequently to take it there and they would hook up a data log to it to really see whats going on.

When they hook that Datalog up... they'll see you've been taking it to Redline... and then, if they are that kind of dealership, they'll stop warrantying your car.

They can see past log from my car? or just while I'm driving.
