Ethanol injection?
Ethanol injection?
Ethanol is less corrosive and has a higher energy density than methanol, just curious if anyone has an answer as to why none of the injection add on systems advertise ethanol injection? E-85 may not work as a primary fuel with lack of local availability, but if its just a few gallons at a time it wouldnt be that much of a hassle to drive to a station and fill up 5 or six gallon containers. Does ethanol mix with water the same way that methanol does? I assume any pump that can pump methanol without failure should be fine moving ethanol.
Just checking to see if anyone has seen it done? does it boost octane by less than methanol making it less desireable as a added injectable? Seeing if anyone knows. What made me think of it was the 5th injector for the LNFs that just injects more fuel, particularly as a way of providing more e85. with e85 in short supply it would be neat to be able to use it sparingly and see a benefit. not to mention id feel safer running ethanol through a tvs than methanol.
Any thoughts?

E doesnt mix well with water. They separate, bad things happen, and then it doesnt burn. There's a reason that INDY switch to running pure E, they could just spray water on the fuel filler as the car leaves the pits and any fuel that spilled becomes non-flammable.
Meth also has a higher heat capacity, so it can absorb more heat, a higher octane rating so it resists detonation better, among other things.

I work at a powersports dealership and have a fuel tester at work. You fill water up to a certain line then fill the rest with the fuel out of a unit or whatever and add a blue dye. Shake it and let it sit. The alcohol will seperate from the water and tell you how much ethanol is in he fuel. So yes it will seperate.
