Cool Famous P0068 Code & Engine Power Reduced

Hello All,

This is a follow up post to my original (Here)

The dealer replaced my MAF sensor, the car drove perfectly with the Oil'd Injen filter for about a week before my AEM came in. I switched out the air filter with an AEM dryflow to be on the safe side. Again the car drove great for about a month. Then it all started again.

Symptoms
-Sometimes when starting the car it won’t keep an idle, the RPM and boost gauge will jump around like crazy. RMP will jump from 500 to 2,000 up & down. The boost jumps from -20 to -5 up & down, but never past 0. The only solution is to turn the car off for 5 minutes, cross my fingers, and turn it back on. Most of the time this works.

-When driving the boost gauge will get stuck @ -10 boost, when I push the gas it will go up say +5. If I push on the gas hard its almost a guaranteed "Engine Power Reduced" this can happen in any gear, even with shifting. It makes the car fell really weird... hard to explain... you don't fell the resistance of the supercharger.

-“Engine Power Reduced” I get this at least once a day. Right now I tend to drive my car like a pansy and I still get the engine power reduced… My car shutdown on my this morning driving to work going about 30 in 2nd gear BAM…

-Engine Codes, only one “P0068” shows up after a engine power reduced error or sometimes just randomly shows up.

I haven't taken it back to the shop yet since I technically still have an after market CAI...

Any ideas before I go buy a new car?!

Thx all in advance.
-Brad

take the injen off
put your stock box back on with the stock filter.

best way to trouble shoot is to take away as many variables as you can.

Yah, that’s exactly what I was thinking but I've lost the bolts... Anyone want to trade a K&N or Injen Intake for there stock box with bolts? This is tube & cone. The intakes have a little rub and wear on the bend parts... I can take pictures for anyone interested. Or does anyone know the part numbers for the bolts?

The MAF was replaced and when i put the AEM on i cleaned it again just to be safe...

I'll give that a shot. I'm working on getting a stock air box too. Any other ideas? The problem seems to be getting worse. It happens EVERY time I start the car now and i can barely make it work some days... dies a couple times for no reason... The boost gauge will jump around now with out the RMPS moving its very weird….

A new car is looking better and better but I love the 'balt.... gotta get her fixed.

thx

Curious, I forget to mention i changed my spark plugs to NGK (BKR7e) one step colder about a month ago. Gap'd them to .040... could this factor into the problem i'm having?

also, if anyone wants to trade their stock airbox for a injen or k&n shoot me a PM.

thx

This same bullshit happened to me about 30mins ago

I had to pull over (on base) and I just sat in my car thinking "What the ****"? So I waited for 3-4 mins with the key out of the ignition and the car turned back on. Does this code come on if your rev your engine??

happened to me last weekend, i raced a buddy a hour or so earlier, just went to engine power reduced, then stalled and then when i started it it sounded horrible like i thought i blew the engine, than i waited 10 mins or so and it started up and ran fine, except for the check engine light and code P0068
