Finally starting to work on it
Hey guys,
So I have finally started saving some $$$$ to start adding to the car. Its pretty much stock now. A little over a month ago i shot a rod through the block and finally got a new engine in it.
My current plans are header, exhaust with a 2.8 inch pulley, 80# injectors (just in case i decide on TVS in the future), ZZP stage 3 intercooler dual pass and tune (of course all this will come over time).
My question is, Is there anything worth stripping from the old block and getting work done to put onto the new one? I've read porting the head will give minimal gains. Is this worth it seeing as I have the head laying around? Also is there anything else you guys would recommend having work done to put on the new engine???
Thanks in advance

Thats what I was thinking of doing however I was unsure of the type of gains I'd see from It. I figured since I had one laying around. Why not.

the gains are good... i mean i haven't done it yet but plan to. its probably one of those mods that gets better the more you have done to the car, especially with cams
And this just keeps getting better and better. I didn't have time to do the engine myself due to work and such....... Just got a call from the shop, the clutch is getting down to the rivets...... dandy. Well looks like I'll be adding a gmpp clutch to that list too...
I got a quick question for you guys. Once I get the head work taken care of would it be in my best interest to do the stage kit first then the header/dp combo, or should I do it in the reverse order? There will be a few month difference in between getting everything ordered and on.

Not only does it open up the super tiny stock ports, it helps down the line when you decide to throw more power at it.
Since I wasn't able to dig up a build of anyone going this route from the beginning would it be better to continue with the exhaust side (header/downpipe/exhaust) before touching a smaller pulley. Just to maximize gains in the beginning. I've read that its not worth doing a stage kit until all this is done anyways.

That's what I figured. I was going along the lines of "I have this ported head, however once the air leaves the engine it becomes bottlenecked anyways" line of thought so I didn't know if it would be in my best interest to clear up the exhaust side of things first.
